Cuts great was able to get a few loose branches off of the tree out back. And also cut it up for kindling. Overall I say that I am happy with my purchase.

Handle is super cool to look at and the blade cuts through all the brushes here in Florida!!

Better than expected. The warhunter came pretty sharp. The overall workmanship is not bad. Legitimate sawback looks like it could be useful and not just for looks. Gotta say I was pleasently surprised. Budk was having one of their one day blowouts so I got a smokin deal on the machette. I was not disappointed with the warhunter.

This is built very well, it has excellent hacking power! Item was fairly sharp and very comfortable to hold. The only improvement I would recommend is to put a hole in the handle for a lanyard/wrist strap. Over all.... it is great!!

I've had mine for about two years and I've put through hell every time I go camping which is a lot, I would like to start with I've read a lot of negativity about this blade breaking when one is chopping with it. First off you have to be smarter than the tool you are using, that being said you can't expect to chop down a 3 or 4 inch tree with something like this that's what the saw back is for. 1" to 1 1/2" is about the limit for any machete. I've not experience any complications with mine, the sheath held up well but I do prefer a leather sheath. Whenever I first got it I had to do some honing on the blade to get it as sharp as I like but it did have a pretty good edge and that being said I would buy another one if this one were to ever fail on me!

Bought three of them, just awesome for my garden. First thing I grab when I go work outside. I use for dividing plants and root balls and for trimming.

Just bought this machete. The blade is very lightweight which is ok but came completely dull out of the box. the sheath was torn at the end so that the point of the blade sticks right through. Not worth the $25 in my opinion. for that price you can get a decent heavyweight, sharp machete at a sportsman store like Big 5

just got this in the mail last week and it is definitely worth the price. blade seems a tad loose in the handle but that may just feel that way because it is a little top heavy, which I honestly kinda like when it comes to swinging it. blade came pretty sharpe but I plan to touch it up a little. the saw on the back isn't necessarily "sharpened" but the teeth are pointy enough to cut through some softer materials and small branches and what not. sheath is also much higher quality than expected I don't see it falling apart any time soon. I'm definitely happy with the purchase.

Just bought my second one. It's too classy for a machete. It's blacktie-007, not Terminator. Save the tree-whacking for your hardware-store machetes. Keep this one oiled and next to your bed.

(Before I begin I most say that this machete is not for heavy cuts or to use as a tool is great for bottle cutting and playing around but never to cutt hard stuff cause it can break the piece of or hurt your self) but still is a Beautiful piece came not really sharp but ones you sharp it gets a very serious edge cut cleaning of from one blow 3 banana plants that there like 16 to 20 inch thick and some bottles very clean is well balance the saw in the back is just sick and very sharp nylon sheath is well done is way more that I expected from a 12 dollars machete is just Sick!!! But again not to be used as a tool

This machete is beautiful and intimidating. The blade is painted with good attention to detail, the edge is sharp and the saw-back is like fishhooks. The handle has a good feel to it, if a little thin. This is a weapon meant for the wall and basic demonstrations, such as melons as shown in the video. NEVER, I repeat NEVER, use this item for legitimate use as a tool. As stated in several other reviews, the structure of this weapon is designed with a critical flaw where the handle meets the blade. The blade will snap-off at the hilt and, depending on your swinging power, may go flying. To advertise this item as anything short of a display item is damn near criminal, someone is going to get seriously injured.

You could buy a better machete than this but likely not for $12. I got it for whacking smallish limbs and vines off hiking trails and general brush cutting, and it works great. It's sharp enough and weighs enough to slice right through up to maybe a 5/8 inch limb or possibly larger for softer woods with one solid stroke that's aimed well. It's light enough to handle easily but just heavy enough to have the weight to follow through a swing. I wouldn't plan to use the sawback except on very soft stuff or in emergencies. Can't speak to the durability because I haven't had it that long, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Good heavy machete tool. And looks good. Haven't tried the saw back but wouldn't be using it to cut down timber anyway. Over all am very pleased with this purchase.

I bought this Machete as a Christmas gift for my eldest son who is really into survival stuff. This machete is! not only is he very pleased with it but so was his 71 yr old grandpa who is very active. The day after Christmas we tried this machete out. it is sharp but did need to be sharpened to do some limb cutting. What a tool! After we sharpened it, it cut like a hot knife through butter! It was cutting 3in limbs with ease! I would recommend this machete to anyone who wants a well built tool for work or to add to your survival supply. I liked this so well I already ordered one for my 71 yr old dad! I can't wait for it to get here and give it to him!!

Own one of these and thinking about buying another one. For me this is a 50/50 blade. As in two say it can be used for survival but was also meant for battle. I heard a lot of people complain once, your hands sweat you lose grip. That’s why it’s a 50/50 for me. It can take a beaten for work and is designed to kick ass in a fight. I believe the idea was exactly that.

I received this sawback machete about 2 months ago. Sorry about waiting so long to write a review, but now I have to. This blade is sleek, sharp and ready. I found it to be one of the best blades for the money and the sheath is adequate. I prefer to let people look at it and hear them say "COOL TOOL".I highly recommend it for work or show........Jerry Hines AKA THE KNIFE Man.

Pretty nice piece. I wouldn't expect it to cut through the bamboo jungles, but it is sharp and has a well balanced feel to it. May get me through the tall weeds on my property but I will keep the branches to my chainsaw.

I was surprised at how nice this machete is. The price was quite low so I wasn't expecting much. It is very sharp and the blade has a nice smooth finish. I find the handle a little on the thin side for my hand. I can easily remedy this with some Paracord. I am glad I made this purchase.

I bought this to remove sea weed from my anchor and chain on my boat. The stainless steel construction is prefect and haveing the back edge serrated makes it easy and friendly.

Great quality piece of work! Sheath is well-made and sturdy. Blade came unsharpened but after a few hours on the whetstone, it was very sharp. Handle was not flimsy like previous products (e.g. 300 Spartan sword). Blade is crafted very well and the teeth on the top are quite effective.

Great quality!! the blade is perfect! The handle is a tad bit small but we all know how to fix that with a lil camoform tape. I still give it 5 stars because the handle is beautiful and very smooth. No jagged edges or sharp corners. If you had to hack your way through 3 miles of Zombies your hand would be sore. 5 stars!

very solid handle you cant tell by the pic but its stainless steel and hardwood. relatively sharp out of box, good enough for a machette. i have seen similar ones at gun shows for near $40 that where way cheaper quality. p.s google bud k coupons to find free shipping.

Just buy it. Durable and just all around sweet. It has become one of the must haves for any emergency or survival pack. It looks great, keeping it as a display piece is simply an insult to its' quality and workmanship. I plan on buying several more (the rule of 1 is none and 2 is 1). Absolute necessity for hiking in dense forests and swamps as well as camping. The sawback is truly functional with off-set teeth, the blade is thick and rugged, and the handle fits comfortably even in my big hand. If you want a dependable machete this is the one. The only flaw is the name: instead of War Hunter it should be called the Wilderness Scout Sawback Machete. Absolutely a great buy for such a great tool.

I honestly didn't know what to expect for how inexpensive this machete was. When it came in it was obvious after opening it that it was a quality piece. I've since taken it out into the wild on two camping trips, and it is a truly funtional blade. Thank you BUDK for another great piece!

Excellent machete. I was impressed right out of the box. It looks bad**s, feels good in your hand, decently sharp, good size, good materials, everything. Made short work of some overgrown limbs on one of my trees right after I opened it. The only things I don't like are the blade's thickness (a little bit thin), I don't care for the sheath too much because the sawteeth keep catching when you draw it, and the blade feels a tiny-bit wobbly in the handle but it stays in place (full tang would help). Except for those tiny issues it's a great buy and you can't beat it for the price. Get one! Get two! Get twelve! I don't care.

I have a large machete collection and regualy use them in yard work. This is not your average yard machete. It's correctly entitled "War Machete." The weight and sharpness of the blade is a combination worthy of any task placed infront of it. On the zombie topic....I think even the undead would turn a rotted cheek to this one and find a different victim!

Very attractive to look at, rigid and nicely weighted, and takes a fine edge. The saw back actually works, and the heft of the blade keeps it from ricocheting off tree limbs and brush. Makes a great gift for yourself, or even for somebody else!

I got my War Hunter Sawback Machete With Sheath last week and put it to work on my neighbors bamboo that was encrouching into my yard. All i can say is it made quick work of the bamboo. The blade is very sharp almost like a hunting knife and it has good weight with very little flexing, very solid feel and the habdle is more knife like then your standard machete. For $12.99 its a great deal, wish I had ordered two with the free shipping.

A machete is a must on Kauai, everything grows so fast. Saw the Zombie machete and the price point seemed worth giving it a try. It was fun, used it to trim some ironwood brush. There is a young man named Josh that just lost his father and he is staying in the famed Kalalu Valley ( yes, people are still there), to get his head straight. He is becoming a hero out there by using primitive methods to bring meat to the table. And his tools include the machete which I gave to him. I have ordered two more to replace it.

Florida has some dry land, lakes, and swamps. Zombies might come there in the Apocalypse, but, we do have real problems, with overgrown vegetation in this climate, and this Machete is one more tool in our collections, to conquer the wild! Thank you for the sawback so the tough, fibrous stuff, can be overcome! Plus, on the wall rack, it is awesome! What a bargain!

This machete is thick but not heavy the pointed tip is great for jabbing and the saw back will be a must after the zombies come to survive. It is very well crafted looks great and well worth the price. Thank you Budk for all the high end knives at prices that can't be beat anywhere. I will need another room in the house just for all my Budk weapons.

I've had this machete for about a month now, I bought it for my camping trip I used it to cut down at least 20 good size trees and its razor sharp, I bought a machete sharpener for it but I don't think I'll get to use it for a while

This Knife is great. I have used it as a saw to trim a tree in my backyard and it stood the test. it was also able to hack through parts of the tree. Do be careful though. Hacking at parts of trees will damage the blade. The only setback is that as you use it, the black finish does flake of the saw and the sheath will get cut up slightly by it. The sheath is easily slowed for a much longer time if you put duct tape on it.

I would absolutely recommend this machete to anyone that wants a great machete. As soon as i took it out of the box i put it to the test to see how big of a tree i could cut down and i cut down a tree at least 7 inches around i was very impressed. Im thinking of getting one for my friend.

I am conducting an experiment for the purposes of my online survival show and for this particular survey I ordered 15 knives and machetes from BudK, ALL of them PRICED $9.99 or LESS then compared upon delivery to see what I got for the money. This is ONE of the results - look for my other reviews for more info as some of the items were GREAT and some were not so great -- Here are the results for this item: This machete is truly awesome, and we use machetes for blackberry vines, brush, etc and I have tried all types from high-end to $5 ones from Harbor Freight. This thing is well made and heavy enough to deliver your swing effectively to whatever you are trying to cut or chop. My first impression of the sawback was not that great, but it works well and is thick and heavy enough to be plenty durable. Feels almost like a full tang handle although I don't think it is - only complaint is that the handle could be a little thicker to fit the hand better. For the price this is an AWESOME DEAL! and this is my second favorite item ordered for my survey. BudK scores a 10 with this deal! Can't go wrong for $9.99 - this is a heavy, solid tool. I recommend this item, definitely worth the price.

This is a great machete. I begin using it almost straight out of the box and it has preformed admirably so far and it shows no sign of weakening. The only stipulation that I have is that I wish the handle were a little bigger to fit my hand better.

I was impressed with these two machetes as soon as they arrived. they were sharp, well made, and balanced to where you can get a really vicious swing out of them. I strapped each of them to one of my four wheelers, and they have proven their worth several times over. They see plenty of action and roll through very nasty conditions without rusting. saplings, and anything you run into with the blade is a joke as long as you know what you're doing. I even used one to dispatch a 50lb wild hog that we caught, and took its head off with one swing! As for the snapping issue, keep in mind that these machetes have thick blades and therefore do not flex, if it gets wedged in a tree etc. do not shake it side to side. But take it from a life long farmer, this machete is as good as it gets

This is a perfect size machete. The balance is just right for swinging all day. really like the thin profile of the handle. the blade is thick and tempered well not like the cheep blades you usually see on a bargain knife.my only regret is that I didn't order 2!

I would just like to address this to all of the people that are complaining about this item breaking because they're trying to chop down trees with it; this is a saw back machete and isn't meant to chop down trees but saw through them with the back of the blade, that's why there's a saw on it and that's why everyone's blades have been snapping in half. Also I know this blade won't come in perfect condition, it's only 13 bucks. I think you'll get what you pay for but you'll for sure pay for not using this instrument correctly.

Great machete. Bought 2 of them and both felt extremely solid straight out of the box. The handle is a little awkward between thumb and index finger. I'd suggest wrapping the handle or wearing gloves for extended use of this machete.

I just got this Machete today and its great, I used it all day, chopping down trees, but it blistered up my hand, only because I hit my targets with such force.(: I had to put tape on the handle to keep it from blistering my hand. Don't let that worry you though, because I was using it all day. Great Machete for the price! Amazing, plus the nylon sheath is great, just be careful with the saw-back when sheathing it, because it kinda tears into the sheath. Anyway, GET THIS MACHETE!!!! I LOVE IT AND YOU WILL TOO!!!!!

I happen to have 3 of these. 2 are on my wall as I'm writing this and the other Is one I like to play with. Where to start? These things can do some serious damage and are pretty sharp right out on the sheath. I've stuck It through a car door. Cut a 2 by 4 nearly In half 'After I made It a little sharper' And It Is still In perfect shape. Good Weapon. 5 Stars.

This is my first machete, but that doesn't mean that I don't know a good machete when I see one! The machete has a slight edge which is perfect because it means it is not prone to damage like "razor" sharp counter-parts. The saw back does tear the sheath when extracted but that is fine. With the machete yesterday I was playing Fruit Ninja in real life as my cousin was tossing hedge apples into the air as I sliced them in half. I got 9 out of 12 of the apples hit! (any time i didn't miss it was chopped in two) The War Hunter is truly the machete to buy!

Wow!! I love this thing I got it five days after ordered it and it is perfect! The blades razor Sharp Its sturdy and looks like it'll take and give a beating. Only bad thing is sheath will tear because of saw back feature. But it still gets a five star can't wait to use it!

I bought this for my brother who hikes, often through thick brush, and this has turned out to be perfect for him! It came fast after I ordered it, and right out of the box it looked clean and well made. It was sharpened and ready for action! We hacked through a few pieces of cardboard, but haven't put it through the works yet to see if it really hold up, but I loved the price, presentation, and speed of delivery.

Okay I love this machete. I actually got two as soon as budk got them in. But every single time I get stuff from budk (when I do, I get around 30 or 40 items) they immediately put it on budk full throttle and then their are a lot of good reviews, but whatever. Last time I ordered I got a CRAP load of machetes and I got two of these. I love the craftsmanship and the black wood looks beautiful but don't let that fool you it will MESS YOU UP bad! Unfortunately one of my war hunters was a little shaky in the handle but the other was perfect my favorite out of my 20 machetes I ordered. Thanks budk.

This things a beast. I love it i have cut bamboo ply-board, even a small tree. I love this. After the tests it's still looking brand new, this is the best. This is the best thing i have bought for 12 dollars

This is not full tang. More like half tang. This is also not a brush clearing machete. However, it will make a good self defense weapon if ever you should need it. The blade is sharp, so it will cut. It would make a fine zombie killer, but not a good bushwhacker. Use it right and it will last. Use it wrong and it will break. Thanks BudK!

I bought my War Hunter at a BudK reseller, so I paid a little more. I have no regrets! I saw it; I HAD to have it. I am no tyro, I have used machetes for 50 years. Is this the best? Frankly, no, but for the price it is AWESOME. And if looks could kill, anyone standing in front of you would be dead. Mine was nicely sharp out of the box, and after some light honing, I could shave hair off the back of my arm.I love the strong, full tang construction, and the pakka wood scales with stainless accents are beautiful. Truly, I bought it for looks, but in a tight, I would trust it not to let me down. My only complaint is the saw back. As is, it is useless. I'll need to work it over with a triangle file, and hope I can do something with it. All in all, I am well pleased and would recommends this super blade to anyone. I will probably gift them as well.

This thing is great, has nice weight to it and a has a nice balance point right in front of the hilt, the saw blade is useful for removing unwanted branches on trees, while the blade is good for removing... the tree also came in the mail very sharp so i dulled it down a little, there is such a thing as too sharp and mine was there.

I purchased this for my son in law to use to clear some brush and over grown saplings. He cleaned that up so fast he is looking for other thing to clear up in the yard. We did put a strap on it to hold it on his wrist.

Nice blade. Occasionally I need a machete for hunting, when I make the mistake of dropping a bird in the brush. Haven't needed it yet but it looks like it will be better than the cheap one I got in the truck now. Inlays on the handle could have been done nicer (excess glue, and gaps in fit). It was a nice addition though to my Halloween costume.

The blade sharpens up very nicely, yet the handle is very heavy and the sheath could be a little looser. It has a very tight fit, yet I haven't sliced all the way through it. Ha-ha. My Zombie crew loves it!!

The blade is beautiful and sharp, but it arrived bent at the handle. Also, the handle is a bit slim and slippery for a large hand. It really is beautiful machete and I can live with the slight bend in the otherwise straight blade. At the tip, the deflection from center is about an inch to and inch and a half.

I bought several brands of machetes including this and a Gerber among others that were higher priced. This was a great, sturdy tool for its price and really beat out the Gerber and other blades. I've since bought several for my family and farm workers. Yes, it does have a slick grip and needs a lanyard hole and lanyard for safety.

Good tool to have. The handle is indeed slim and slippery, and it is not perfectly aligned and finished, it's made in China, but I guess if most of these were made in the US, most of us could not afford to buy them anymore...so overall I should be happy with it, but I'm not satisfied, could have been done better, even if just a little...!

At face value, good blade and well built. Handle is a bit on the thin side and not enough gripping surface, tough to handle when sweating especially so because the blade is front heavy. Sturdy sheath. Though after a while, the saw teeth WILL cut through it. Should of had a steel runner in it. For safety, you should drill a hole in the handle and loop a lanyard through it. When swinging it, wrap your index finger on the outside of the guard. Its easier to control. Even though Im critical of it for $13,its excellent.

Nice and sharp out of the box! Good for yard stuff, should be alright in a survival situation. Only thing that stopped my giving it 5 stars was the handle as it gets slippery as your hand sweats. I will wrap it with para cord in the future.

Nice war machete, easy to carry, sharpening was easy as well. The saw part is long enough that it does the job and lessens the work. Great tool to have

I got this as part of a 5 machete surprise package. I was mildly surprised to see this. It is nice and long. It is sharp. I am not a fan of saw teeth on knives or machetes. But I see a role for this in camping or survival. You can saw wood with one side and clear brush with the blade.

I fixed the "girly grip" problem by doing a para cord wrap w/noose termination. Came with excellent edge, steel is good. Balance could be better, but for the price it's a great deal.

Beautifully made, useful in the yard. Blade is more than substantial and the handle is a work of art. The only problem I have with it is it does not give me a reliable grip. The handle, though beautiful, can get very slippery. Admire it but be very careful when you are slashing a tree branch because it might escape your grip.

Its good for its price. My two complaints are it came with a flat edge and took a lot of work to get a useable edge and the hand grip is a small diameter and polished. This causes problems when using and your hand sweats. Since this is a machete and not a knife and prolonged heavy use happens this can be a problem. I ended up putting a paracord wrap on the handle.

Has a great look and good balance in the hand. The grip could be a little fatter but other than that has a good feel. If nothing else I can carry it with me in the car as a just in case piece since it's appearance is intimidating as all get out.

Wasn't expecting much because of the low price but was pleasantly suprised. Blade not as sharp out of the box as I hoped but it did take a nice edge with a little work. Solidly constructed and the sheath was also sturdier than expected. All in all a good purchase and it does look totally bad ass..

At first I was going to buy the Columbian machete but then I noticed the Zombie. While I'm not a Zombie hunter I ordered it instead of the Columbian which was $7 more! Wow! I was impressed. It is a solid piece of craft! I wish the scabbard was sturdier and have som concern about the handle slipping (mine was not uneven unlike some comments I read). For the money this is the only!

This Sawback Machete is a great buy if you are willing to sharpen it yourself and put a real edge on it. For the price this is a great buy, and is well balanced and looks mean! I bought his for a rough and tumble brush cutter and it is great for that purpose, but mine came with a small vibration where the blade connects to the handles. I'll eventually tighten this up myself by removing and replacing the handles. Excellent buy for the money though..

I've had this one for a couple months, the edge is outstanding, the blade is heavier than the Cold Steel machetes I have. My only issue is the handle, the different segments are slightly uneven and start to cut into my hand after a while. Overall though a solid tool and for the price, unbeatable.

From what it is like out of the box it looks and feels like ti will be fine. However I have yet to use it on my blackberry bushes or other branches I intend to use it on. For the price it will be well worth it as long as it doesn;t snap like others have said it did.

amazing machetes, sharp straight from the box, sawback cuts very well, only improvement id suggest is a better designed, more comfortable handle, the one it has is a little small for my liking. maybe something along the lines of the Gerber Gator.

I rate by Craftsmanship, Design, Materials and Price. This thing is solid, looks intimidating, well made and for $10 bucks...Can't beat it. Took it into some small brush....wait no more brush. Works GREAT! Why pass it up?

Nice for its price. A little skinnier then I thought it would be, base of the blade attached to the handle is no more than 1.5" wide, and the widest part barely reaches 2". Still though, heavy duty, and with a good sharpening, completely lethal. Looks great, feels great, and with a few more hours of swinging it around I will have fallen madly in love.

It was a great machete for the price, but it snapped in two at the handle. I don't recommend swinging at anything thicker than 3 inches, worked perfect and cut clean through small branches so its still 4 stars. The saw teeth are nice, they get the job done.

I was surprised at the quality. Nice heavy feel. I didn't cut trees but it hacked through heavy vines & weeds up to an inch thick without a problem. Any thicker I would use a chain. Good quality for the $. I'll buy more for friends.

This machete is a perfect example of that old adage: You get what you pay for. It's a twelve dollar machete, so it isn't going to last you for years. Mine snapped at the hilt after a couple of months of use. Like everyone else has been saying, the blade needed sharpening when I got it, but afterwards it did a pretty good job. The sawback was useless, though. It's really more for looks than actual use. I'd recommend getting this if you have a single project that needs doing, but beyond that, I'd be wary about using it for too long. Over all, it's not a bad tool for the price.

I just received this machete yesterday. As I expected from the other customer reviews, the machete was dull when I got it. It feels a little light for a machete and definitely not one I'd use for heavy duty. So overall I'd say that this $10 machete reflects the saying that you get what you pay for.
Feb 16, 2012
(3 out of 5)
Okay first off, I think the machete is solid and really well balanced. My machete however came with a few noticeable flaws: First off the blade is not sharp in the slightest bit I can push my thumb onto the blade and slide it and it wont cut at all, the wood inserts have some sort of finishing defects where it looks off color in bad way, and the metal on the guard was a bit scuffed up when I got it. Now I bought this machete because I practice a machete based system of escrima and just wanted a machete to actually train with for a low price. If you want a machete for that reason I'd get this one, but if you want one for actual outdoor use of some sort I would not recommend you this machete. The handle will hurt your hand after long use mine is callous from training so I actually like that, and of course there is the chance that you get a super dull machete like mine.

I got this for my nephew. The one I got has a chunk of wood missing on the handle, and the blade has been "painted" with a marker in places. I guess its to cover up scratches. All in all you get what you pay for and I wasn't expecting much. Cutting weeds is fine but I wouldn't go for any trees with this one.

I had been using it for about a month, it worked great until I was chopping a log and they handle completely snapped at the bottom inside the handle. Won't be buying this machete again, but its a good bush knife, just don't cut anything hard with it.

Everything was great except the handle was a little loose. But was sharp. Cut with both sides of the blade. So it fell off a 3' table, and boom, that dang handle quit. Leaving the business end out of work. Upsetting. Sad face, sad face.

I got this machete, it looks pretty cool, nice saw, light weight. It will cut melons and stuff like that as in the video, pretty sure it will also brake a car window as in the video. I took it one day to cut some thin branches on my back yard, use it for half hr or so. First the handle is damn thin, I had to put some soft rope around it to make it thicker, as I was cutting a 3in diameter beach aprox....blade broke!!! It happen so fast that all I felt/heard was the blade flying next to my head. Some just a couple inches from cutting my skull open. I was very lucky. I know better than to use this type of product for serious cutting. If u want a cool looking yet cheap machetes to cut melons impresses your friends or for show....then get it. It's a great deal. Just don't use it to work. If u do be careful.

I bought this machete thinking it may work around the house trimming up tree branches and brush and such. About the second hack on a medium size tree limb and the blade broke in right above the grip. Snapped in half! I guess you get what you pay for, cheap price, cheap product.

While this item is pretty to look at, the design forces limitations on prtactical use. The blade is sharp, the sawback is effective. However, if swung with any considerable force there is far too much stress at the very base of the blade where it meets the handle. There is simply not enough material at the connection to the handle, the steel is of insufficient grade to compensate for the stress point and there is an inevitable failure. As stated in another review, the blade simply snaps at its base, leaving you with a pretty, intimidating blade and a fancy handle. Not recommended until this design flaw is addressed.

I purchased two of these after viewing the photos. The grip handle looked more comfortable to use than the ones sold at Walmart. When I tested the first one on a few branches, it snapped in half at the hilt after 5 swings. I tested the second one on the same branches and it held up fine.

Broke first use. I was cutting branches that were maybe 1/4-1/2 inch thick and was striking at an angle so it wasn't just brute force and the blade snapped off at the hilt after four or five swings. It was a clean sheer snap too so the steel broke, it wasn't a bend that wore or anything like that. The steel broke. Looks nice but is useless if you actually plan on doing any work with it.

I was using this machete right after i got it in the mail. I used it to start clearing out a camp sight and it broke at the handle when i tried to cut down a tree only about 5 inches thick. The blade just stuck in the wood and i had the handle in my palm. It looks pretty, but it's useless.

Got my machete in the mail today and I was super impressed with it. Felt real sturdy and was fairly sharp. I was sorely disappointed when I took this machete into the woods, at first it did ok. all I thought was it needed a little sharpening, turns out it needed a little more than that. I say this because the blade snapped off the handle, now I am not sure what to do with a still somewhat usable blade.

its got great looks and saw is great, and is sharp out the box but when i took it to a piece of dead wood about six inches around and it broke at the hilt/guard it'd be perfect for a collector but maybe not for a user
