Product Description
This unassuming cane may look ordinary, but it's a veritable beast when it comes to personal protection! Designed by the self-defense experts at Night Watchman, the Adjustable Self-Defense Walking Cane features a classic crook handle with a bitter puncturing point that's great for fending off attackers. Was Skeptical At First, But Made Me A Believer!
I have to admit that I was skeptical about this cane - I've needed one ever since my career ending injury years ago. Since then I did lots of study into canes and walking sticks and discovered that they are the dirty little secret of the martial arts world! That's what got me into "caner" culture and I've never looked back. One day I was caught in a torrential downpour with my very nice fighting cane that was made of beautiful crocus wood - no warps or cracks, but the finish was totally ruined. Right then and there I resolved that I had to find a solution, and that's what led me to research polypropylene options. I stumbled on this one, the Night Watchman Hooked Self Defense Cane, and based on the mixed reviews of it, I was kinda on the fence. But after considering what this winter season could bring, I decided to give it a shot - and boy, am I glad that I did! Mine just arrived today, and despite it being thinner in the shaft, it is WEIGHTY - and sawing it down to fit my size was a snap, too! For less than $50, I gotta say that this was a steal (I've paid as much as $300-plus for custom made wooden combat canes). And contrary to what some reports have said, I've found that I can perform my twirling and spinning moves with the cane as is - I don't need to do anything to the pointy horn of the hook of the cane (in fact I rather like the way it looks), it doesn't get in the way of my doing my move sets, etc., at all. What a bargain! Now when it rains and pours and I need to go out nevertheless, I can simply reach for this number - it's waterproof AND will take care of a knucklehead, too! Thanks, Bud K!

Greatest self-defense piece of gear since the Shotgun!
I have had my Night Watchman Cane for over four years. I filed the very tip of the handle off just so I would not injure myself, though. I have not had to use it for self-defense YET, but it is possible that I'll have to when traveling to those "danger zones" in the USA where concealed carry firearms are not allowed. I'm taking it on a cruise where I cannot even have my Swiss Army Knife with me. Beware, pirates...this old soldier will toss you over the side after breaking your arms, legs and neck with this impressive piece of hardware! By the way, I actually have to use this as a cane per my VA doctor, who is as tough as they come! (-:

Get this!
You don't find this quality cane for this price. I have purchased Night Watchman polypropelene items before, so I thought this would be the same stuff. It isn't. It is more dense. This is a great cane, and a weapon that would be acceptable anywhere you might go. I ordered two. They came quickly. and, after playing with them, I ordered two more. I like these. PW

Outstanding cane that doubles as a defensive tactics tool!
I am a 6'2", 265 lbs. disabled/retired LEO, and a former International LEO instructor in Police Defensive Tactics, straight baton, PR24 baton, kubaton, firearms, and oleo-resin capsicum Instructor. This cane is made of similar materials as the Internationally famous PR24 Police Defensive Baton. I find it to be extremely tough, well neigh indestructible, and heavier than any cane I have used in the last 20 years. With the hook handle it gives another level of defense against armed opponents. With small adjustments I found I could do all of my PR24 methods for taking people down, restraining their arms and legs, and such. I got this cane as a gift from my Cousin who was a retired Guard at one of the toughest prisons in FL. I replaced a thick oak cane with it, and I have never regretted it. It gives my shoulders, wrists, hands, and arms a minor work out just walking about with it, much less doing spin strikes and such with it. Thank you for a marvelous cane, and defensive tool. this is why I bought many Christmas presents from BudK. You guys are the best.

Good cane
Obviously, all of these 5-star reviews can't be wrong. They must indicate a good and reliable product, especially since so many of the reviews are coming from big guys who are actually using it for support. I bought two. I cut one down for my own use and left one at full size, for weaponry if needed.

Feels good to my 6'3" frame
Lots of sticks/canes feel short to me at 6'3", but this seems about right, maybe an inch too long but easy to cut down.

Great product!
It arrived today. (I picked it up at the Post Office because I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to look over my new cane). This is a marvelous unit. I have to mention that the Cane tip already came attached. That said, I think that this will help this old Navy Veteran get around (after a few miles of walking, my ankles begin to swell). I'm getting a prescription from my Primary VA doctor for a cane. I can already tell that this will be preferable to any wood or standard metal cane they can offer. (I'll take what the VA prescribes as a "backup" cane. This cane will take anything I can dish out and will work as a self-defense staff/cane. Since it is and will remain, a physician-prescribed "walking aid" I can legally carry this onto commercial airplanes, Amtrak, Greyhound and any means of public transportation. Law Enforcement cannot prevent me from using it for it's prescribed purpose. (I am training to use it for its "secondary purpose"). It may come in handy when "the feces impacts the air motivator".
Thanks, BudK This is something every person that has any mobility difficulty should own. It is a great therapeutic device as well as a personal defense device when absolutely necessary. Keep up the good work. I have already placed another order with you and plan to remain a customer fror the forseeable future.

Found one.
i've been looking for a cane like this one for close to 30yrs. now. I wanted a fighting cane just like this, but couldn't find one untill now. I've looked long and hard for a cane ,most were expensive.During my Military days,i was just getting into weapons fighting and had thought about training with a cane. I saw a Martial Arts movie; I think it was Battle creek Brawl,Jackie Chans movie with Mako using a cane, and got hooked. Now,i'm training myself to use cane defence along with other Martial Arts. Thanks Bud-k,you allways come thru. Ronn ''Manchu''Shaw Smyrna,De

Worth every penny!
Just received mine a little over a week ago & i love it! Im a big guy, 6'2" 290lbs. I have degenerative disk disease and need a cane (when im not using a walker). I've been looking at this cane for a while as i have broke more than a few canes. After my last one cracked i ordered this one. Its a good looking cane, some may say "a little menacing." Which i like. More importantly, it's held my weight a couple times. It bends a little but no creeks, pops or cracks, it doesn't even groan. I feel confident using it. If you're thinking about getting it, go for it. You'll be glad you did! Oh, only thing, you will need to replace the toe with another, its not completely no slip. I already had extras. Took two seconds, well worth it!

Finaly found what i was looking for.
I've been looking for a fighting cane like this for allmost 30 years.I had an ideal of teaching myself to use a fighting cane when i was in the military. I couldn't find a good cane and they had cost alot of money. Iv'e finaly found one that is perfect. With my 312pds. of beefy size, this cane fits me perfectly. It has a good weight, the cost is great, and it feels good in my hands.I practice 4-5 times a week with this cane. It's a good cane that i can carry anywhere. I hope you can get them in other colors. Great martial arts tool. Ronn ''ManchuWarrior''Shaw

STRONG!!!
This cane is heavy duty! I weigh 280 pounds and need a cane to walk due to hip and back injuries . I feel safe leaning on this cane , it flexes very little. I cut the point off the hook as it was nastier looking than I wanted. So big guys go ahead and buy this one it can take the abuse we put on our canes! I was also pleased that it was actually the length it was advertised to be , unlike other canes I have bought online.

Product opinion
I wish you would have looked at K-Bar cane design, much more functional in thickness and handle shape of the cruk opening. I also agree with a new non slip rubber tip even if you don't shorten the cane. But for the price it should outlast most canes!

Got a pair
I really use canes for support and was worried these were not up to the task.
I am pleased to say that they are up to the task of supporting my weight(about 230).
Only one issue, the end caps are hard plastic and not good for real use.
A quick trip to the pharmacy for rubber cane tips and they are good to go.

Great product
I just got this in the mail not too long ago and I can say that I am very satisfied with the product. There is one thing though, on the website's description of the cane it says it is made out of "injection molded nylon with fiber," but when I received it the packaging says it's made out of molded polypropylene. Not a big deal, just a little confusing. If somebody can clarify which material this is made of that'd be great, otherwise I'll just assume it is the latter.
