Product Description
When you need an easily concealed defense weapon, this Honshu Karambit knife is exactly what you are looking for. It features a 4" 7Cr13 stainless steel blade and an over-molded handle with an open-hole pommel for an easy grip. It includes a genuine leather boot sheath with a clip. It's 8 3/4" overall.
Ordered a pair of these and I'm glad I did. High quality like all my other Honshus from BudK. Scary sharp out of the box. Solid and well built. No visible flaws anywhere. They're a bit heavier than I expected, which speaks to the quality of manufacturing. Love those grips, they fit my hand well. The leather sheaths are wonderful. Thick, soft, supple leather. Very nice!! Really impressed with these considering the moderate price point. Definitely worth the money. Enthusiastically recommend!!

Great Knife!
Came on time and super sharp out of the box. Well made high quality knife and sheath. The best part...this knife was $10-$20 cheaper (for the EXACT same knife) than anywhere else I found it!

Nasty gutripper.
gut ripper. Tip is a little wonky. Blade isn't dull, but it also isn't "sharp" enough for my standards. A little love with the stone fixed it. Overall? This gutripper is one gorgeous little blade. Hope I never have to use.

Well worth the price
I have to agree with the other postings that the blade did not come very sharp...although the tip is very sharp. But overall, this is an awesome karambit for the price! The size is perfect for self defense. This is not an EDC. Once properly sharpened, the Honshu should be sheathed until the one time that it is actually needed (for self defense)...and hopefully that day will never come. I highly recommend the Honshu.

bigger than i thought
fits well in my hand in both positions, it’s solid too, it’s edge was dall from tip to half way down the blade. snug firm fit in the sheath, secure locking snap that's easy to release when wanted. totally worth getting. the engraving you can get isn’t really an engraving it’s like a chemical stamp like the wording already on the blade, it does look good thoe.

Good, but flawed.
I just ordered my stainless steel Honshu karambit, and was very excited, but after use I realized that the index finger ring was slightly loose. If you know anything about karambit techniques if that index finger ring were to break while swinging the karambit out to hook, I could really hurt myself. I plan to call customer service and see if I can get another one sent out. I will post a follow up review to let everyone know. Also the strap that comes with it isn't like I thought it would be. It is basically half a suspender, which is still useful and it works, but it's a bit uncomfortable for EDC.

Quality
I just got this karambit today and I have to say, it is amazing. It came razor sharp out of the box (I would expect no less from BudK or United Cutlery). The boot sheath actually works better, for me anyway, as an inside the waistband sheath. I absolutely love the design of the snap on the sheath because it is like a quick release due to the small piece of metal on it. The handle is extremely comfortable in the hand both in reverse grip and standard grip. Thank you so much for this amazing product BudK you guys are the best!

Nice
The knife just came in and first thing I noticed is that the blade isn't fully sheathed (only partially with cardboard). The knife is very sturdy and the blade is sharp (nicked myself removing knife from cardboard sheath), for the price is pretty good but the sheath needs some breaking in (bit difficult to insert and remove). overall 5/5 its not packaged all that well so be cautious when opening box and removing contents.

WOW
After playing Splinter Cell Blacklist, I wondered if the knife was real. Well found it, but not sold to individuals. Then found on this site and cheaper than the retail. After watching this video I was very impressed and also carry a bench made. But if trapped in a car, this is what you want to get that seat belt off and out of the vehicle. Lucky in SC we can carry legally.

Bad A$$
This knife is bad a**. I actually expected a smaller knife, but this is a full size with a tight clip for the boot. The edge is sharp and the handle has a good grip and feel. You won't be sorry if you get this.

LOVE IT!
WOW - I absolutely love this blade! I will get another one - maybe more! For the price, it is great and half the price of Cold Steel Tiger. Nice thick blade and mine was very sharp. The sheath works well, but a little strange angle for a quick draw and it all depends on how you want to hold it and in which hand. I would like a sheath that sits horizontal on a belt so I could draw reverse grip down toward the ground to get it out - just me. I have a few Karambits and working on the reviews. I love them all, but this one is a monster. I would absolutely love it if it was a double edge for slashing in both directions - the little Gil Hibben claw has a double edge and will review that next. The point on the end is serious and could do a lot of damage and bet it would work for window/glass punch. Absolutely recommend this - not sure about the black one with the shoulder harness - the harness itself that is, not the blade. I do see many people know how to make Kydex sheaths so looking into that. Found one for all the budget tomahawks. Train hard!!

pretty good
the sheath is great the snap work really well it cam in decently sharp the tip was pretty nice but i carried it inside the waist band for like a day and it had surface rust spot i used wd-40 and it still didn't come off now i just leave it in a spot in my room i will hopefully use it but the type of metal is sot so i know it wont hold and edge to long

Typically a good buy
The Honshu Karambit is a large sized karambit. It comes very sharp, and the nice rubber overmolded handle is almost too big, but isnt. I have bought about 20 honshus and 1-2 of them had small defects that Budk replaced no problem. If you want a smaller cheaper karambit, the black legion karambit also offered by budk is a good alternative.

Very good knife. I got two of these, one for me and another for my older brother, and they both came nice and sharp in a neat package. Not thrown around like some other things ive ordered offline. I only have two very minor conplaints. The first is that the blade and sheath were slightly dirty, but a quick wipe with a paper towel took it all off. The other is that, on the edge of the blade, near the tip, there are some very small marks in the blade, kinda shaped like waves, like one side of the sharpening machine vibrated ever so slightly and slipped on the blade. Luckily it was an easy fix. Just a quick run on a sharpening stone had it good and straight. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a knife of this kind.

"Good Blade, Not Good for Carrying Around"
The knife is well crafted, EXTREMELY sharp. I accidentally cut myself just by lightly touching the blade; I had no idea it was going to be that sharp. The sheathe isn't the greatest; it's pretty cheap leather and the button doesn't clip on properly. When I got this in the mail, I was a little surprised by size of the entire knife. Karambits are generally small knives, but this one is massive. The pommel would be more comfortable to use if the hole was smaller. Overall I would say it's a little better than your average blade. I wouldn't recommend it because it's not a convenient blade to have around at all, it's too big to have around casually.

For the price...
Blade is sharp, but the tip is so dull!!!you could stab anything with it and it wouldn't tear or cut anything, but as a slicing weapon(which is what the karambit was made for) it's great! For me the sheath was great, and everything else about the knife was too.

Not the greatest but nice.
Bought bout 2 ish years ago and I still use it. The tip was was oddly shaped which caused it to break but easy fix with my grind wheel. The sheath started coming apart at the opening almost as soon as I got it but nothing super glue didn't repair. I feel the sheath is uncomfortable and impractical on a boot so I use it on my waist and it feels great. 40 bucks is a bit much though unless you are a CS:GO fan.

Not a bad knife, wish it was sharpened before sending. Scratches on blade.
Tony Ferrer Sep 06, 2015 (1 out of 5)

"Haven't Even gotten it, so far, not satisfied."
I have full confidence when I get the knife it will be alright but if now then this review says a whole lot..My sister wanting to be nice for Christmas, ordered me this knife on the 17th of December, it shipped on the 19th and I was all set and ready to go, but now it is 3 weeks later and I don't have anything. Well the real reason I don't is probably because she didn't pay $20 for UPS shipping, instead just the normal USPS shipping which no distributer should ever use. EVEN STILL, it was at the post office by the 23rd. There was no notice in the mail, no email or contact that my package arrived, nothing. We figured since it was snail mail that it would take a while to ship but that was not the case. Maybe it was just a whole amount of variables that messed this up royally but all I know is, my package is in the post office and i can't get it until Wednesday, the 7th of JANUARY to even get it. Thanks for poor communication...

Junk
The one that I received was, at best, a factory second. Misshaped, poorly ground, dull and blunt. I was very disappointed. The quality of United Cutlery has really went downhill. It's a shame.

Very disappointed
I cut a box with this one day as I carried it around and the tip just broke off...a card board box!! other knives ive gotten from here have been great but this bummed me out big time.
