Excellent
The knife itself it nicely crafted, it may be made in China, but it's extremely high quality. The sheath on the other hand, could use some improvement. The snap on the sheath I received can easily be undone, even the movement from you standing up can undo the snap, which is why I only wear this on my belt, I'm afraid it'll fall from the shoulder sheath and stab me in the foot. But don't let that deter you, other than that, this is an extremely good buy!

Great Product
I purchased this knife for my grandson and I must say it is beautiful. He was thrilled with the gift and I am equally happy. Thank you Bud K, you never disappoint.

Sweet knife
Very nice knife. I was very impressed when I received it. Very solid and well built. The sheath is ok, but I don't expect it to last very long, the shoulder harness is lousy though. Fortunately the harness part detaches and you can wear it on your belt. As always it came dull, but to be expected with cheap knifes.

Love this knife. Bigger than I expected but more than happy with it. Was kinda skeptical about the quality of the sheath and harness but it does the job well and the knife is held securely in the sheath. All in all well worth the buy.

The knives are immensely good quality. The handle feels good in your hand is a perfect fit for my large hands. The only downfall is the "Handcrafted in China" mark, but other than that, put these through your accusharp and they can create a surgical nightmare on a milk jug. Almost no effort to pierce it with the super sharp tip.

All in all, an excellent buy for a superb price. What a steal!

Buy one!
At this price point United Cutlery could have easily used cheaper AUS-6, but instead they opted for AUS-8 so that is the first thing that impressed me about this knife. I am not a fan of the shoulder sheath harness so I just got rid of mine and use the belt loop on the sheath to carry the knife instead. The knife itself is very sturdy and well made and probably one of the best things you can get on budk for under $15. Great quality and at 9.5" it is not too big and not too small, it's the perfect size for a self defense knife.

Great Purchase
Knife is beautifully crafted, light weight & durable with a slender handle. The blade is shaped to hold a razors edge, and the sheath can be worked with or improvised to fit an individuals needs.

I just now got this in the mail. Usually, I would wait a few days to get to know the product I bought before I commented on it. But with this, the moment you hold it, you feel like it is invincible. The whole knife is a bit thinner than you expect. But don't think that's a bad thing. It's size is perfect. It's perfectly balanced and amazingly tough. Came pretty sharp as well. If I were to put a price on it, I would say $30-$50. If you view this product, buy it. It's exactly what you're looking for.

best knife purchase i've made in years
I bought this because it looked similar in size and construction to a knife I had a few years back that I loved. I had my doubts because of the low price, but I'm very happy with it. It was quite sharp and it came with oil still on the blade. The handle is a little slim, but it's in proportion to the blade so that's okay. Feels very sturdy, and I like the grip. It's a little loose inside the plastic of the sheath, but it's not a big deal. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a good self defense blade.

Good knife, not concealable
I bought this thing to wear under a shirt, and lets just say, that aint gonna happen, this thing prints very bad, but does hide well under a small coat or zip up sweater. Otherwise yea, it has alot of velcro and can be easily attached to your gear or belt carried. Knife is well made and has a nice meaty handle. It also throws well as it's very well balanced. Well worth the money. Five stars from me.

definatly was not expecting what I had recieved in the mail today. Great balance nicely sharp shoulder strap great plus. I would definatly recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for something that is multi-functional. I would give this knife a ten if they had it, I am going to recommend this knife to all of my buddys. + very sleak and the handle on the knife itself is the best ive had in a boot knife as of yet. have a good one.

When I purchased this knife I imagined it being a little bigger than what actually arrived at my door; however, I found this to be a good thing. I rather like its size. Small enough to carry with you wherever you go, but big enough to get the job done. I couldn't be more impressed with this knife! It has a very nice synthetic handle and a beautiful black finish on the blade. When I first got it, it was pretty sharp, but you may decide to sharpen it a bit more; I did. Another thing I want to mention is the carrying sheath it comes with. The knife goes in and out great, and doesn't get hung up on anything because it has a hard plastic lining. It also comes with a shoulder strap. I couldn't figure out how to use it, until I found a picture on the box explaining how. So make sure you look there!

On a side note, from this website I also purchased the dagger that is advertised right next to this one if you go to the knife category, and then the combat knife subcategory. It's exactly the same, but with a silver finish, and is only sharpened half way down on one side. That knife comes with a sheath for use on a boot, but can also be attached to a belt via the metal clip on the back of the sheath. The reason I am mentioning this is because if you purchase both and are wondering if the shoulder sheath and the boot sheath can be used alternately between both knives, the answer is yes and no. The silver knife will ONLY fit in the sheath it comes with, so you cannot use it in the shoulder sheath. The reason being is because the silver knife is only sharpened half way on one side, which makes it thicker at the base of the blade, just enough that it wont fit in the shoulder sheath. This was a little disappointing, but that's perfectly fine. The black knife (the one this review is really about) will fit in BOTH sheaths!

I will confirm that the dimensions of this knife are exactly as stated on the website. As you can tell, I have nothing but good things to say about this knife. No cons whatsoever. I apologize for the lengthy review, but I like to inform future customers of exactly what they are purchasing, and give a few tips of how to make your experience better. I wish more people would do that so I myself could have a better knowledge of what I am buying. So, if by the end of reading this there is still doubt in your mind, I have three words: JUST BUY IT!!! (:

Enjoy!

combat tooth pick
this knife is very sharp out of the box and can stab through almost anything with ease, the shoulder strap is hard to figure out at first but you look pretty bad*** with it. i recommend this knife to anyone who wants a good dagger style knife and the sheath is good too since it has a plastic case inside the nylon for perfect hold. the sheath can also be attached to the belt like any other knife to so its optional. This knife is awesome it's sleek and feels comfortable to hold, still trying to figure out the strap but hey it's a good
buy and it's an amazing knife!
Kenji Burs Mar 07, 2010 (5 out of 5)
Feels great in hand. Strap took a tick to figure out. But it goes from one arm, around back of neck, and down chest to clip on pants/belt/whatever. I like it though. I actually have the sheath alone fasened to the buckles on my boots. And the sheath is hard plasic inside of nylon. Many possibilitys for fasening at different spots! BUT!, edge will take awhile to sharpen. But for $15.99 do I really care? ...Nope. Point is nice but you will wish to sharpen it, alot.
Over all impression: Good buy, especially for AUS8 steel.

Great Knife
Sheath is not meant to be clipped to your boot. If you want one that will clip to your boot United Cutlery does make this same exact knife with a boot clip sheath instead of shoulder harness. It is just 1-2 bucks more and is sold on this site. The knife itself is great once sharpened, the sheath is meant to be connected in shoulder harness or connected to your belt. The knife has a real loose fit in the sheath so it will easily fall out if not snapped in or if the snap fails. All in all it is a great knife especially for the price and I would recommend it to anyone wanting one. Remember if you want the boot clip instead, het the one for either 14.99 with the chrome finish or 15.99 with the black finish only real difference is look and length of blade varies 1/8 inch.

Good knife, crappy harness
Straight out of the box, the knife was razor sharp. The first thing I cut was actually my own finger. The sheath is also good. However, the shoulder harness is a load of crap. I am a bigger dude, so I had to adjust it to the max. As soon as I put it on, and threw a coat over it, though, the elastic band snapped off. I tried to repair it, but I ended up throwing it away. However, for the price, it still is an excellent knife.

Great
No complaints so far. The shoulder sheath could be a little better, but it's not hard to figure out, and you can remove the straps if you want to wear a different knife. Razor sharp out of the box, with a relatively light-weight feel to it. A definite must you want a good camping/self defense knife.

Surprising Quality
I bought this knife because I was curious to see if the quality of the AUS-8 steel in a $10 knife would be as good as my more expensive knives. I actually bought 2 since they were cheap just so I could run some destructive tests on one to see how well it would hold up under extreme stress, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It was razor sharp right out of the box, and after hacking at some pieces of oak with it, it had retained its edge really well. It also appeared to be quite flexible, and could bend a ways without taking a set. The tip finally snapped off after some repeated prying, but that's not surprising as it does have a thin tip and isn't designed for such a task. I would like the grip to be a little bigger, but that's not really a huge gripe.

very nice
the knife is of good quality, nice balance, sharp out of the box. the sheath on the other hand is not as good as the knife. the shoulder rig is very uncomfortable, and will not hide anything. that's if you can even figure out how to put it on. it took me awhile. overall it is worth the money for this knife. Nice Blade, Bad Sheath
The blade is nice but the sheath is a real disappointment, it's just cheap and thrown together nylon, I am going to make a better one myself.
Chris Glenn Mar 29, 2011 (3 out of 5)
Much smaller than what I wished for. The double-edged blade is quite sharp, and the sheath holds the knife well. Compared to the Special forces tactical knife (only one dollar more) I had in the same order, I'd say this one isn't on par with it, simply because of the design. The blade part of the knife is wonderful, I just had a different image in mind when ordering this.

not sturdy enough
got this knife to replace a knife that went missing while at the range with my military unit, this knife didn't even last the full month as I got it right before going off to a military war exercise, was rather disappointed that the hand guard broke so easily though I know I shouldn't expect much from plastic. giving it a 2 star instead of a one because it was a nice looking knife while it lasted

really dull knife
I ordered this knife thinking it would go great with my other united cutlery items that I have purchased in the past. This knife HAD no edge. The sides are almost totally flat (minus the ridge folded over on 1 side) This was the most disappointing knife that I have ever purchased.
