Product Description
This fine replica sword is patterned after the US Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber issued prior to the Civil War. It was also used during that period and into the Plains Indians Wars of the 1870s and 1880s. Measuring 40" overall, this saber features a 35" high carbon steel blade and a leather wrapped handle. It comes with a nickel-plated steel scabbard. This is a superb item and will make any Civil War or historical collector supremely satisfied with its authenticity and detail!
Could not believe my eyes with this sword. I was hesitant to buy this because of the low price, but the reviews convinced me to try it out. Great looking, well built. Yes the sheith had some burres in the opening but five minutes later with my dremel tool everything great. Do I recommend YES!!!

FANTASTIC!!!
I had one of these swords before, but not from Budk, paid more and wasn't as nice as this one. The price on this this sword is unbelievable for what you get. The packaging was also done real nice. I am totally impressed, which is why I continue to shop with you. You always deliver quickly as well, and everything always looks even better then in the pictures. I am totally pleased with my purchase and will continue shopping at BudK, Thanks!

Great product @ any price!
I don’t see how anyone can make such a high quality product like this with such a ridiculously low price. My friends and family loved it. This is a Union light Calvary Sword and if they come out with a Confederate version i’ll Buy it because I would like too have the set.

Fine saber
A fine saber at this price range. I collect Iaido katanas so I have some experience with carbon steel blades. This came very well protected in shipment. The saber and scabbard come shipped together, the saber is placed outside the scabbard. Both pieces are oil protected and come wrapped in a plastic sheath. Firstly, I unwrapped the saber. I used mineral "spirits" to clean the blade (only takes a minute to do this). Then I tightened the small tang nut at the end of the handle. I then put a light coat of mineral "oil" on the blade. Cleaned the scabbard with mineral "spirits". Then I took a small file and lightly "de-burred" the inside of the scabbard "mouth". I then sprayed WD-40 inside the scabbard. Then I placed the saber in the scabbard. Not all the way into the scabbard at first. Put the saber into the scabbard several times, until the saber worked it's way fully into the scabbard. Looks beautiful, and everything feels really solid. The saber comes dull, which is fine for me. A great buy at Bud K !!!

Very Pleased
I've had this sword for a few months now and I am very happy with the product, you get much more that you paid for. The sword is very good and comes oiled. Personally recommend any collector to start with this.

RADallen
Purchased this saber about a month ago for myself. Could not believe the way it looked and felt when I opened the box. Had to do a couple of minor modifications to it but well worth the time. Recommend replacing leather cushioning ring and spraying the the inside of the scabbard with WD40 or liquid wrench (turn upside down on cloth to drain excess). Some minor fileing on scabbard throat to remove rough edges and to make removing and replacing saber smoother.
Showed it to my brother in law and now he's ordering one for himself. We are both retired military. Plus I'm ordering a second one for a friend who is also retired miltary.

A Sword for the ages
This true to spec replica is spot on. Mine was purchased for me by my wife a couple of Christmases ago. On our recent trip to Gettysburg, I brought it up to Little Roundtop, where the 20th Maine Stood, and gave it a thrust into the ground to "anoint it" in the ground of the warriors. Rugged, Sturdy, and now well capable of combat (personal sharpening), It stands at the ready. This is another SUPER Bud-K deal, that you shouldn't pass up. if you "run out of ammo in the apocalypse , you'll need something..... & I've got mine.

Wow! Impressive!
I bought this for a 12-year old grandson for Christmas. He covets my great grandfather's Civil War sword but that's not going to happen soon. This sword is a true bargain for the money and very well done, I was very surprised when I took it out of the box. It looks great, the quality is great and the appearance is authentic.

U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry War Replica Sword
A great sword for the price! Oddly, the sword was shipped outside of the scabbard -- but they ship a lot of them, so I guess they know their business. It has a few minor flaws -- nicked handle leather, sharp spot on the rear of the guard, leather on the sword meant to cushion it when putting it into the scabbard is smaller than the hole in the scabbard -- but overall in excellent shape. Mine is unsharpened, but it may be better that way. This is a BIG sword! It was well lubricated to prevent rust. The place of origin is faintly vibro-penciled into the blade right next to the handle and would take only a few seconds of light sanding to make it a perfect reenactment sword. I'm VERY well pleased. Thank you, Bud K for bringing us affordable knives and swords!

I was very impressed with the sword. It completely met my expectations. Thank you for providing a quality product, I will now order 2 more because that was my original intension - I just wanted to make sure that I would be happy with them first.

poor quality
poor quality, unexpected from BUDK. grip was not attached/aligned with the guard, sloppy construction. have been trying to return for 7 days, poor customer service.

Bad quality
I actually got mine a few years ago. It came and there was no leather wrapped around the handle, the sheath was bent (which mad it hard to get the sword out) and the sword was very, very dull. It is awkward to hold, it feels super heavy and is not balanced
