Shinwa Spear
I have been a serious collector for over 20 years and have long sought a Japanese Yari for my collection. The only one I have ever seen on offer was over $300 so I was very happy to find this piece. Delivery was quick and the item was very well factory packed. The blade geometry is quite different than the Yari but well-ground and arrived sharp. Handle and wrap are well-executed and the oval handle indexes nicely and is stout. Weight is definitely to the front of the piece as one would expect for a thrusting spear and I doubt it would throw well but the Yari was rarely thrown anyway so no big deal there. My one concern, as other's have noted, is the blade attachment. A Yari is usually double-pinned through the tang and shaft but this item is glued and one can't tell how far the tang extends into the shaft. Still the piece is attractive and will work well for solo training and handling exercises. I recommend NEVER training with a live weapon except alone as anything else is far too dangerous! All in all it's a good buy for the price and I was happy to add it to my collection!

shinwa double edge carbon steel warrior spear tan
I love the guard, the brown wrap is a nice change from black. My spear is sharp from point about 8 Down, can cut paper fine. The pole is light don't think it would brackunless aboused. If throwen correctly will be fine.Don't know how long the tang goes into the pole at guard if it is just glued on at the guarg and doesn't go into the pole some length then that would be a problem.the spear is glued into the area at guard but again juest don't know how far the tang goes into shaft at guard.anyway if had to ues it and tang isn't as should be it still would be good for one good through, and if throughen right would stick in it's target atleast one time eaven if brok off in target, like for slef defence.overall looks great
