Product Description
This samurai saya sword features a 27-1/2" stainless steel blade with a traditional Japanese inscription. A decorative habaki, tsuba, menuki and pommel add tons of old-world style and authenticity to this saya. The imitation ray skin handle is wrapped in maroon-colored cord. The scabbard features an opening that allows the Japanese inscription to be visible even while the blade is sheathed.
Using google's image translator, it seems that the "inscription" is actually in Chinese and translates to "There are gods in ancient and modern times who serve people with lofty ideals". Still a cool sword at a great price.

Great quality for the price
Was expecting an unsharpened sword but is sharp, not razor sharp. Sheath is great quality. Overall the sword in my opinion was under priced. Excellent craftsmanship

BEAUTIFUL
This sword is BEAUTIFUL!! The cord on the handle is almost purple and well wrapped. I love the tsuba as well. The blade on this sword is a thing of beauty. Mine came sharp enough to cut through water bottles and milk jugs. But it's so pretty I don't wanna do that and risk scratching it. If you're thinking about getting this sword, stop thinking, just get it. Thanks BudK!!

Built for beginners
I got the sword a day early and was very please with the quality and colors. The handle WAS wrapped with a deep purple color, contrary to what the description states. The color is slightly lighter than what is pictured, but still looks very cool. Scabbard is made of fragile wood, but grips nicely and looks decent. Very good for the price.

Excellent for the price. Blade is sharp and fittings are indeed metal. Of course there are some little things like the habaki isn't tight around the blade but it does make an amazing display. And it is well made enough that you could easily show it off.

NOT for hitting things. Or cutting, stabbing, maiming, etc..
Maybe it's just me but, I thought the blade looked a bit skinny when actually got it. Other than that it looks wonderful.

One of my favorite swords and the cut out on the sheath to see the engraving makes it that more elegant.

Very good overall sword; 4.5/5. It is unsharpened, and so should probably be used only for display. The tip however, is sharp, so be careful. It's overall sturdy, the blade doesn't wobble at all. Fairly lightweight sword, it could be used one handed reasonably effectively. The markings on the sword are painted on, and look rather nice. It's only upon close inspection that imperfections in the paint can be seen. On the sword one has to look for imperfections in order to find them; there are slight scratches in some places, but they're very minor. Also, one side of the blade says "440 STAINLESS STEEL" and the other side says "CHINA", so when mounting it's impossible to hide both. The sheath itself is hard plastic. Also, the opening to show the markings had paint shavings in it, but these can be cleared out with a little bit of scraping. I would definitely recommend this sword.

This sword is amazing for the price and is a good sword to start with your collection. But if your ever feel like you want to be a ninja and go chop stuff down in your backyard...you might wanna get it sharpened first.

Beautiful Sword! Love the Japanese writing! Although the only down side to the sword is the sharpness! It was kinda dull and flat until it hit the point of the sword! Other than that one con, BE-A-UTIFUL!!!

The scabbard is very breakable but it sure holds onto the blade well enough I can hold it upsidedown and shake it around withbnout it falling out the blade isnt straight but its suprisingly durable for stainless steel its very light and easy to carry
Scott Fosser Oct 11, 2013 (4 out of 5)
The handle wrap is black which looks cool but the other nylon wrap is purple not maroon or red as pictured. The blade in nice and the sheath is light. Like others have said, be careful with the sheath, its fragile. I dont appericate the nylon on the sheath purple. It looks cooler and manly with the maroon nylon.

Super fast shipping, it came in two days. I love everything about this sword. It's a little smaller than I imagined, but I think it's still a great size. Everything looks amazing. The wording on the blade looks fabulous, and the metal work looks incredible.
My only concern in the sheath. It feels kind of cheap and whenever you sheath the blade you kind of have to do a final shove at the habaki (little square above the hand guard.) to get it in. It's not that much of an issue though. Some people are complaining about how "440 Stainless Steel" and "China" are printed on the blade. They are printed on the blade, but (at least for my sword) the text is a few shades lighter than the metal its self so it's only noticeable in light, and regardless the text is tiny. Great purchase, and I hope to make more on this site!
Mergim haxhiaj Dec 31, 2012 (4 out of 5)
for $25 this is the best deal on the site, the blade farrrrrr exceeds the picture and description, decently sharp, enough to lop off a head...cough...only problem is the sheath, although it is extremely smooth it is also extremely fragile. sheath needs more care than the sword itself.

This was definitely worth the price! Gorgeous sword, only thing was that the symbols on the blade, well, the ink was a little messed up. But overall I'm happy with it.
Rodney Jackson Jul 22, 2011 (4 out of 5)
I like this sword because its lasted the longest out of all that i have.
Jack Lee Apr 29, 2009 (4 out of 5)
Good sword, would very much appreciate it more if it didn't ave the 'made in china' and the 'stainless steel' signs on the blade :P
Michael Chappell Feb 27, 2008 (4 out of 5)
Great original design and looks great with my others on the stand, just the kanji wasn't a burn in like I thought and a few letters came looking like they hadn't been sealed on well and were missing parts.
Kelly Allen Jan 30, 2008 (4 out of 5)
This thing is beautiful. It's bigger than the picture indicates, and has a nice balanced weight to it.

The only problem is, mine arrived with a nick in the sheath, and a some plastic shavings.
randy nguyen Jan 01, 2011 (3 out of 5)
Didn't expect it to be a display sword, but it's a rather beautiful one
