If you want an inexpensive copy of an iconic weapon, this is for you! Knife is solid and well built. Although the handle is shorter than the originals. Sheath isn't so great, but quite adequite for it's combat mission of living on my bookcase. One little mod I did is to cut off some of the extra length pointed plastic tip and round it. So that it look more like the originals. Service was great and shipping prompt.

I got two of these one for a gift and one for me.. only got two complaints .. there is no edge on these hardly a bevel ..which is not a big deal I can put my own edge on it then make it razor sharp ..second the handle is fairly short .. the pommel does not go past the bottom of my hand. now I held a different companies knife replica just like this but it was loose and the guard was sliding all over not tight at all. The handle was a little longer and made of wood but I feel this one I bought is far superior.. now the scabbard is very cheap it feels like felt paper to me i wont use it.

I was amazed at the low price for this knife. It seems to be based around the original WW2 Commando knife designed by Fairburn&Sykes. Since the little local difficulties in Iraq, Afghanistan etc I can assure anyone who needs to use this knife for its intended purpose, that it does the job. From personal experience as a Royal Marine Commando (now retired) I can honestly say that it is a very useful item to have though I would never consider using it as a throwing knife or for cutting as its the point which is the main offensive part of this weapon. I carried one since 1979 and I never once regretted having it to hand.

This Fairbairn/Sikes copy looks very close to the real one. It's 1/2 inch shorter but makes for a great display, since very few of us will be using it for night raids. For $6.99, even if you use it as a can opener, it's a great buy. I had to squeeze the sheath flat before the knife would fit without cutting it. The sheath also looks very close to the original. At a distance, only you will know it was made in China.

The Fairbairn-Sykes was designed with a rat-tail tang. You can check out the original specs online at Wikipedia. It was specifically designed to pierce human flesh and for that purpose was highly effective. It was not designed to pierce tin cans, plastic bottles, or be thrown at trees. For the money, this is a fun piece, but the more expensive and better made Linder version, also available from Budk, is more like it.

These Daggers are large to say the least. I got two and am VERY happy with them. Daggers aren't suppose to be sharp to keep from cutting one's hand in a fight, but I just can't do a blade that I can't shave with. Where's that sharpener I ordered? lol Happy with Bud K on everything I've bought. Great price, fast ship and customer service is second to NONE!! :-)

I just got this knife, and I must say, it is surprisingly light. I read the other reviews, and they said that the sheath would be extremely low quality, and they were right, the sheath is incredibly poor. Instead of the button clasp that is featured, it is a mere elastic band. The knife itself is very good, but mine required a bit of sharpening after I opened it.

this knife is really cheap for what it is, its a replica of course, but a darn good one at that! I can see this really being used for some serious self protection. its could use some sharpening, but that is not really important considering this is a thrusting dagger. designed for piercing.<br />The handle is design well enough to fit in the palm of your hand but is still relatively small, small enough to fit in a small pipe, to convert into a spear. for only 5.94 you cant complain! ;)

Despite what the other reviews said, I ordered this knife as a package deal with 2 other pieces. For $5 this is an awesome piece! The knife is sturdy, the blade is sharp and pointy, and there is no damage anywhere to be seen. The sheath is interesting, made from hard leather, and fits the blade perfectly. I thought that based on the other reviews I was going to be a tad disappointed, but the truth is its an absolute steal for the price! I would recommend this as a third item in a group of knives to anyone seeking military items. Thanks BUDK!

Okay, first off let me say this. The Leather Case is...well it leaves a lot to be desired. It looks quite similar to the one in the picture however there are a few "unimportant" differences. However one that is important is that on mine in particular, if you examine the picture you can see a button strap to hold the top of the blade secure while it is in the case itself, the button strap on mine is actually a piece of elastic cotton weave to can not be fitted over the handle of the blade once it is inside of the case. (this means it really has no point at all other than to 'look pretty' or hold something else)<br />Disregarding that, you do not buy things like this for the case. The Knife itself is almost flawless. The handle itself almost makes it feel like you are holding a toy, but a quick flick on the blade itself will prove that wrong instantly.<br />The blade itself is not perfectly centered however if this is being used at all for defense, they would not notice.<br />It has plenty of power and the metal seems to be pretty good. i would expect to pay about $10-15 for this blade at a normal store, so for the price, if you are thinking about buying, it go for it!

Unbeatable Price! Yeah the finish isn't so good but for six bucks who cares! The handle and tang are decent. The sheath is pretty poorly made and not feasbile to wear camping or hiking. A good knife for the practical man or the collector.

Knife seems pretty solid, for the price. The sheath isn't much to brag about. It is a bit undersize for the width of the blade. The knife lacks a half inch of completely entering the sheath. Perhaps it will stretch a little with wear. Overall, a pretty good value.

I had good expectations for this dagger. I was planning to use it as a throwing dagger, and my expectations were not met, but rather blown away. I do not give this five stars in order to not appear like a first time knife user and the fact that it does come sharp, but only in an extremely small Scandi grind. But it is an excellent knife for survival and assault tasks, and I actually plan on ordering it again. I also suggest buying the ninja style machete. and defender bowie.

I read about the WWII function to sneak up behind German sentries, grab their face and stabbing them in the neck or chest. I see this inexpensive version as a one time use weapon that will do the job. I love it.

Much smaller and quite a bit denser than I thought originally. I ordered two because of the low price. Quick note; they come sharp, and are completely full tang. I do have a small problem; perhaps two problems. The sheath that is pictured did not come with either of the knives. With that said about the sheaths; they don't fully fit inside the sheath. I don't understand the strip of fabric on the sheath that stretches. But, all in all, a great buy for the price.

Both good and bad, the sheath was an exact reproduction of the Fairburne-Sykes Commando knife, the knife fit the leather sheath well and had an elastic safety retention-strap, exactly like the originals, but arrived damaged. The blade was flat-dull, it even had nicks in the edge that ran the full length of the blade and the point was dull. I gave 4 stars because it's sturdy and well put together, but both the sheath and knife will require a good deal of work to make the knife functional. For 6 bucks and a little elbow grease I'll have a great military-type dagger.

this is a great blade for the price, its all metal handle is a little small for me but doesn't detract from its primary purpose, stabbing. the sheath is cheap but functional, a solid reproduction of british daggers issued to armed forces during the time. I give only 4 stars because of the sheath, which is too small for the dagger leaving an inch and a half of blade exposed, but its a small issue for overall a great buy!

Very good knife. the sheath has a little to be desired for though. I don't recommend hand sharpening this blade though it will take you a day to do it. The paint finish is decent but not horrible, and the finger guard/crosspiece is a little loose but easily fixable. In my professional opinion it is a very good knife.

This reproduction is probably superior to or at least as good as many of the original Sykes/Fairbairn knives that the British Commandos used. Mass production during wartime had little use for quality control! It's a solid reproduction and certainly worth the price paid here at BudK. You'll go a long way and pay a lot more to get a better knife!

I have bought two in the past from BudK, best price is here, this dagger is moderate quality, and does not seat fully in the sheath. About a 3/4 inch of exposed blade shows when sheathed. Overall, a good letter opener. God bless.

Knife itself not bad, its paki it will do its task atleast once. Needed to put a whole new edge on it. The sheath is where they saved the most money. After some fitting it fits knife and new belt loops being cut, it will work for a bit i guess.

I really like the knife, but mine can't hold an edge. When I got it out of the box, it had no point. It was like it broke off and the tip was flat. I sharpened it a lot and the flat tip is smaller but still has no point. It could definitely stab someone, the point was not THAT bad. I like it

Let me begin by saying that when it comes to blades you commonly get what you pay for. A 5 or 10 dollar knife of any design is going to be a mass production piece made of serviceable steel and or moving parts and a sheath that will take wear for a period of time that varies with each production. That period of time will not be measured in years. In essence, an inexpensive knife is a tool of reasonable quality and limited durability. That's what you pay for. That's what you get. The more knowledge you have of the dynamics involved with what you want to be able to do with a knife and what the different designs and grades and hardness of steel can provide you in task specific function..the better equipped you are to decide on a piece. As a guide line...simple tasks don't require complex design or superior steel. Rugged conditions and combat situations do require quality engineering and durability that you can bet your life on. Do your research in such cases and make your selection with well informed care. Now as for this BudK Commando Knife it's of mass production quality, as I've said. With some sharpening it is a decent blade. It has the inferior 'rat tail' tang, it is a bit too light, and while it has enough length to be lethal in a thrust it can only be trusted to cut w/ 'tool edge' effect. The real Commando knives can cost 1k, easily. They are of course crafted for balance, heft, superior blade sharpness and strength, and rock solid reliability in critical situations. All in all, I am well pleased with the delivery time and I am satisfied that I have gotten the quality I expected. Having a basic understanding of knife and sword quality, I should also like to say that I recognize some outstanding 'tried and true' pieces in the Budk selection that are priced quite reasonably between 89 to 100+ dollars. Look at those pieces if you want high quality at a good price.

Let me be blunt, its 6 bucks worth. The picture doesn't show some things, poor edge and rat tail tang to name two. The scabbard is hit or miss, I would make my own if I were to actually carry this knife. But for a letter opener it will work well. If you want an actual hefty go get 'em fixed blade knife, shell out the $120 bucks and get a Gerber LMF II. However, for 6 dollars its quite passable. Only 3 stars because of the edge and sheath though.

The blade has no edge at all. This item can't be used as a cutting knife unless the edges are ground down. However, it makes for a relatively fun letter opener or as a replica for WWII reenactment events. The leather sheath is OK for looks. I wouldn't want to trust it to hold up to any real wear and tear, though, as it feels flimsy.

For the price, an adequate knife, although not a totally accurate reproduction. The sheath is junk. I threw it in the recycle bin as soon as I held it the first time...and made a sheath to fit the knife. Overall a good weapon, the low rating is because of the sheath.

im glad i bought this knife. my sheath came with "wings" and elastic hold in just like the original sykes fairbarne commandos of ww2. this knife handle is too small to be a replica though. a cool little copy for a military collector, pair it with the mark 1 trench knife and a ka bar and your all set.

I bought 3 of these as a package deal and I was not impressed. They are definitely cheaply made with a "rat tail" tang and screw-on type metal handle which was rusty on the inside of each of the knives. If these are "exact replica" military type issue, then the British must have been very tight on budget. I do have to say that the knives are very sharp, but the black paint finish on them flakes off, the handles slip, and one of the 3 knives had a twist to the blade itself. Also, the sheathes for these are crap. You cannot secure the blade in the sheath via the small spandex-nylon strap that is supposed to slip over the handle, but which is placed too far down the sheath to actually function! I'm using them as "hide around the house" knives just in case I am caught without a gun by an attacker. They are dual-sided blades and have a very sharp point to them that would easily pierce clothing and on into flesh! You get what you pay for. If you're looking for a good "boot knife," stay away.

I got two of these BOGO for $7.00 with free shipping. On one the black finish was kind of flawed and bubbly in one spot. The handles are pretty good, maybe a little on the small side. The blade is thin, sharp and pointy and has a bit of a homemade look to it. The raised center line isn't straight and the overall shape is a little off. The sheath is made of thin papery leather. I'm happy with the knife for what I paid. It's fun to throw in the yard.

I had to spend some time to get a real edge on it as it was a bit of a slop job. But the metal is good and at the absolute least could be used for throwing or general "I don't need to be afraid of breaking this knife" kind of jobs.

I was disappointed when I received these because 50 years ago I was lucky enough to own an actual surplus knife. It was beefy, and had a weighted handle sufficient to cave in a skull. In comparison, these blades are flimsy, and the handle is so light as to be a joke. But, of course, they are worth the money BudK is charging. At less than $10.00 per knife, what should we expect (especially since BudK has better replicas of this knife, for higher prices).

I bought one of these a couple of years ago and it was really similar to the original, I was impressed!, good quality!. I just bought another one and just received it today and I'm just disappointed. Two holes between the handle and the blade, rust along the edge, poor paint job; but the sheath was really good., even better than before. Only good for.....as a display.

I realize that the Quality Control is on the Supplier; but still...really? Blade is 1/2" to short, rust spots on the blade from improper anodizing,handle a full 1/2" short and does not fit the hand and causing the pommal to be covered by the hand, leather is OK on sheath (typical for Pakistan), but too tight, blade needs to be forced in to cover edge and cannot be with drawn except with force and two hands. Not the sheath pictured; 'tis styled after the sheath for the "Linder British Commando Knife" for $31.99 BUT not quite like it as the tabs are not spaced apart at all and renders the use of the tabs "unuseable". BudK you screwed up on this one.Could have used a little Quality Assurence, before actually paying for this shipment.

I bought this under the BOGO and I would not consider these knives worth even 3 dollars a piece. One of the two knives was defective. The handle and guard was not in line with the blade.

You get what you pay for! I was not expecting anything of great quality for the money I paid. Mine has a very thin, flimsy and poorly machined blade,the point was completely absent and unmachined. The sheath is junk with a plastic guard tip. This knife is best used as a display piece or a letter opener. This does in NO shape or form come even vaguely near the quality of a Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, as someone has suggested in one of the earlier reviews about this product. Save your money and look at the Linder FS replica that BudK also offers.

Knife was fairly dull when I got it - required a bit of polishing and sandpaper to fix the burrs in the steel. Its clearly factory made, where the blade doesn't fit accurately in the handle - kind of leans to one side a bit, not noticeable from a distance. Rat-tail tang.
