Product Description
This Raging Waters Katana was named after the unique tsuba design which features intricately detailed samurai art of a raging storm at sea. This battle-ready katana features a 1045 carbon steel blade that was hand-forged and then honed to a razor's edge. A hardwood handle is double-pegged to the full-tang blade and then wrapped in faux ray skin and traditional cotton cordage. While this sword could be displayed proudly with your sword collection, it is truely at home slicing through rolled grass mats and bamboo stalks. Get yours today and we promise you won't be disappointed!
To start with the sword came super fast with standard shipping. Big bonus with that. It is well made and everything was fitted tight and snug. It weighed more than what I was expecting which is okay. Now my only problem that I had that isn't as much as a problem as it is a personal pet peeve. Was the two pins were put in slanted and wasn't done to clean. But it had no problem with the fittings. I think that for the price, it was a great purchase that I would make again.

wonderful
this sword without a fake Harmon line is superb and extremely sharp out of the box with no edge burrs, Tight, great balance and at a give away price for the extreme quality it is. Buy one today. It is a serious threat to anything it hits.

Great sword for anyone who never had a katana.
Got this sword yesterday, it is my first katana and I have to say I am very pleased for the low price.
It came sharp and so far I have no problems with the tsuba or the blade itself. No rattling and very easy to swing.

Perfect
This sword is perfect for cutting water bottles, grass mats, rolled newspaper, bamboo, and other things. I highly recommenced this sword to my friend and he is going to get one but they are currently out of stock.

Very Pleased
I would have expected to pay + $70 for this sword. Very solid and the engraving adds an overall perfect demeanor for the sword. Already recommending this to everyone who asks about it. Thanks BudK!

Just AWESOME
I just received my Raging Waters Katana today , I must say that this thing is just AWESOME and came pretty sharp, but needs to be sharper, which will not be an issue, it has good weight to it and truly is priced way to low, but I am not complaining at all. Thanks BUDK again for something great! also received for free BLACK LEGION MACHETE WITH 2PC THROWING SET and I just love them

Above average
I think that this sword is better quality than the price suggests. Sharp enough, can be sharpened though. Carbon steel, so it's battle ready. Full tang, so it's sturdy. Nice weight to it. Had a nice and fun test cut or two with it. The heavy blood groove is nice. I haven't disassembled it to test the ease and tang, although the bamboo pins are a nice sign. It's a bit short, but I guess most Katana are. That's more realistic too, I've learned, so it's actually a plus. There's a nice soft cloth wrap around the sword and nice wooden scabbard as well. Besides being a little sharper, it only lacks the cool wavy design from a nice smithing trick near the sharp part of blade which prevents this sword from being in upper classes. The missing wavy line, a smithing mark that may go hand in hand with clay and making the sharp better extra hard so it be sharper and sturdier, is actually more important than the missing razor sharp feature, on that note. Anyway, thanks BUDK and Musha. For being special.

raging waters katana
This is the real deal people, the weapon is beautiful no shaking parts everything is tight full tang battle ready katana. it comes sharpened you will need to put a little bit finer edge on it. They put a good edge on it at the forge any sharper it would cut through the box. This weapon is worth every penny. It has two pins in the handle so you can break the sword apart. i am thinking of having they blade etched to make it mine give it that personal touch. Buy this sword you will not be sorry if you are the people at BudK will give you thirty days to decide. you wont return it though.R Stewart

For this price, you cant get a more functional sword. The blade is also VERY sharp. Oiled to preserve the metal, durable, excellent handling. Just overall, a great sword for the price. I would definitely recommend it to both new and veteran sword collectors.

Amazing sword!!! if you want a functional sword for a great price this is the sword for you. the sword came in today, and i got more then i expected. the sword is razor sharp, and cuts very well. before anyone buys a sword from here, i strongly recommend reading the " Art of The Katana" link on this website and also "Sword Care". you must know the proper way to use this weapon and maintain it.

so to rap it up, Great sword! great price! and Beautiful to look at!!!

Myfirst Katana, but nowhere near my first purchase. I'm simply stunned at the beauty of this deal. Could be sharper but, out of the box, not bad. weight distribution is nice, very balanced, at least for me. Beautiful make, love the grip, sheath/scabbard (I'm not sure which to call it) is also very impressive, sturdy and light as well.
Kevin Boles Dec 26, 2009 (5 out of 5)
First off this Sword is very beautiful and I only have a few complaints. The scabbard has no end cap so it is prone to cracking, but just be careful and it wiggles a little bit while sheathed. Other then that buy this sword and for the price its a steal.

The picture here does not do this wonderful katana justice. I thought it'd be a bit cheap when I first ordered it (which was only 2 days ago!) but I am definitely satisfied. The blade is nice and thick. Razor sharp, of course.

Being a sword enthusiast, I immediately took it for some cutting tests. It cut through some saplings 1-2 inches thick like nothing. I have yet to do a paper test and a milk jug test, but it seems promising.

awesome value for the money. tsuka-ito is tight and the tsuba and all fittings are rock solid. the blade isn't the prettiest thing but for $40 the samurai special series of monosteel katanas are easily the best swords for the money.

Hope its a full description I wrote too much:

(its really nice for under $40)
Well to start it comes in a black bag and a fold over top with laces that sword around and tie down around it.
The scabbard thing sheith has a black finish smooth, there is the Tastu Maki symbol on it half way up, I think it means whirlwind.
Then it had the lace tie right around it.

The sword of it self starting from the bottom has the same symbol then it goes up into the nicely done handly lacings. There is the full tang and the "brass like" pins, Idk what it is. There is an ocean wave like scructure half way up on the handle. right before the guard part there is 3 whirlwind symbols on each side, black. Then there is the copper ring guard then the guard itself that has the whirlwind symbol and various waves. The blade starts with a copper blade start thingy. Then it goes to the blade with the blood groove. There is the visible hamon like it says. The blade is sharp, I haven't tried it though.

I wrote to much_

to be honest im a huge martial arts weapons fan i use swords, nunchaku and three section staffs. i got this sword becuz of wat the symbols on it mean and becuz its a real sword. as it says its a light entry cutting sword. when i ordered it i was excited but when i got it i was kinda dissapointed becuz the suba is loose fitted and the edge is not as sharp as it could be but for the price its good enough i cant really complain its a discount sword that is wat u pay for so im kinda half aned half on this sword only becuz ive used better for a little more money

I have a $5 machete that can flex pretty far without bending and stays sharp made in china bought at HF... If I got in a sword fight with my machete vs this sword, it would chop this sword in half... the metal is soft, and the edge came with a bur all the way down one side. I did a flex test, it can flex about 5-10 degrees before bending. Overall looks nice and should only be purchased to sit on a mantle. I did not buy it to do anything but cut junk in the yard, thought it would be more fun than using the machete.
Deborah Wheeler Apr 02, 2010 (3 out of 5)
The sword arrived very quickly, especially for standard shipping cost, the blade itself as well as all of its fittings are solid and functional as promised. the blade chipped a little after I cut a few things, but all in all I'm very happy with my purchase and would recompensed the sword to anyone interested in starting a collection of functional swords, however the sword is definitely a beater and there are probably nicer ones as long as your willing to spend 20 dollars more.
