Product Description
This High Carbon Steel Throwing Axe is well balanced for a perfect throw and also makes a perfect addition to your camping or hiking pack. The high carbon content of the axe head provides greater hardness than stainless steel, which allows this axe to stand up to hours of cutting tasks without resharpening. A sturdy hardwood handle affords a classic appearance with lasting durability. Whether you're splitting wood for a campfire or notching logs to build your bug-out shelter, this tomahawk will never let you down!
Good strong handle. Just needs work, blue the head, some brass inlay and some stain.

Nice axe
It is a nice axe. Although mine didn't come with an edge that's not a big deal. I like it that way so I can put the edge I like on it. But the handle kind of sucks. Mine has a tear drop shape to it and the point is right where your fingers wrap around the handle. I can sand that down . But all in all I love the axe. It's well worth the money.

DW
This is my first throwing axe, I picked a winner I have 3, I broke 1 handle, had a knot below head, I made another, the other 2 handles are doing good, Getting good at throwing and love it

Great deal
I got 2 of these tomahawks and they have great handles regardless of what you may have read in other reviews. The heads are well made but do require sharpening. But all and all great.

Better then expected
This is a great tomahawk to learn to throw with or mod your self. The handle has not broken after being thrown, it was just to short for me.

axe
The carbon steel head sharpens up nicely! Just looking for something to add for a better grip.

True Tomahawk
Fantastic product. Yes the handle breaks. It's made of wood. That's why they sell replacement handles out of the catalog. The taper to the handle is accurate to how true tomahawks have been made for centuries. Lightweight for the size and throws like a dream. You won't find a better non-tactical hawk.

High Carbon Tomahawk
Many years ago I made and threw tomahawks and thought I would like to do that again, so I purchased 4 of these. When I received them they were not sharp but that was to be expected nor was it a problem since I have grinders. I sharpened them and gave the edge a longer taper. One of the handles broke on the first throw even though it hit square and the head stuck into the target. The handle snapped off. Examining the handle indicated that the wood had be taken from a piece of wood near a knot thus weakening the handle (grain orientation). The rest have functioned as expected and I am again enjoying something I did 30 years ago. I would rate these a 5 star even with the broken handle, tomahawk handles are easy enough to come by.

Good hawk
Aside from a little sharpening i dont see any problem. With all respect to earlier comments the handles are supposed to be loose. You tap them on the head and tighten the handle. They are loose so if you miss or hit the handle first it wont break but only come loose. A grat price for a throwing hawk others are selling for forty dollars

No edge at all
I have 2 of these. Neither one came sharpened. The handles are narrow. The heads are good forgings though with good high carbon steel. All in all, worth buying.

good for the $
Well balanced tomahawk & easy to throw . It takes some effort to sharpen. The handle loosens up after some banging around. I will be buying replacement handles. Overall it's worth the money.

A good start
When I ordered this, I was not expecting a fantastic product. I was pleasantly surprised. I admit, it needed some upgrades, like a new handle and sharpening. The sharpening took 5 minutes for what I needed it for and I had an extra hickory handle laying around and it is now an excellent work hawk. I don't throw them. I like to use them for what they are supposed to do...get work done!

good for price but
I received one with a poor handle. The throwing hawk head seems well made although the edge looks like it was ground by an amateur. A bit of filing will correct that or it is serviceable as is. The handle on the one I received was a piece of wood that should have been used for kilning. It was rough, not sanded, no finish, Not fitted to the head so head wobbled( not safe to throw), and had a jagged knot right where you grip to throw. Sorry no where to post pic here. Now let me also say I ordered an extra handle which was a solid grained, smooth sanded, well shaped extremely nice handle. You always have to fit all replacement handles to the head by shaping/sanding a bit. A quality throwing hawk will cost at least 2X to 3X more than this one. If you receive one with a decent handle then this is still a very good deal.
