Product Description
Gil Hibben has a history of designing knives for Sylvester Stallone to feature in his films, going back to the "Rambo III" Bowie. Stallone is an avid collector of Gil's custom knives, and that relationship continued when Stallone commissioned Gil to make several knives to use in his new film, "The Expendables." One of these movie star knives was a never-before-produced, custom designed Old West Toothpick. This handsome, versatile fixed blade knife features a classic 11 7/8" Arkansas toothpick style blade, brass-plated blade back and classic hardwood handle. It includes a handsome genuine leather sheath and certificate of authenticity. Measures 17 1/2".

I purchased this old West toothpick knife by Gil Hibbens and it is beautiful and well made. Purchase this and you won’t be disappointed.

I have looked this knife over more than a few times, and I can't find ANYTHING wrong with this knife. It came sharp...but not razor sharp. If anyone hangs around after I pull this knife out...I guess they'll get what they deserve!

Outstanding, he keeps surprising us again & again! Better than I thought. Well balanced sharp right out of the box! Very nice sheath. He never disappoints!

One heck of an amazing knife. Came razor sharp and quality is easy to see, a bargain for this price. I have another Hibben knife but this one is just plain awesome.

Hibbon's vision of the Old Arkansas Toothpick and it's baby brother Boot. The boot version I picked up for ??39.95 from the days when pistols were ONE and DONE and the only thing you had left was your BLADE and your WITS.....

NOT a wall hanger by any means. The knife is resilient AND expertly made! Although it is primarily a fighter, it can be counted on in a variety of other situations! Bought one for my brother and I and we're both, very happy campers!!!

Very good. Large a toothpick as I'd ever seen, had to add one to my collection. Not only pokes, it swings too... makes a good hacker. The grip is made from what looks like wood laminate- very thin slices of wood pressed with some sort of (epoxy-like?) bonding agent. Very sturdy but also much heavier than plain wood, gives the blade a grip-heavy feel- my only beef with the knife. However the grip is VERY sturdy and I don't think it will de-laminate in my lifetime (at least). When I saw it I had to get it for my selection.. Ive got a few bowies, but this is the only toothpick Ive seen in years... A real pork-poker for sure. A friend(also a Brother Of The Blade) has one too, so we got matching pork-pokers to further cement our friendship!

Sheathing looks good. Fit and Finnish are bad on the knife handle and bolster. No quality control.

Awesome knife! I'm a knife collector, so when I saw that the " Expendables" bowie knife was on sale for 50 bucks I decided to buy it. Man o man! This thing is not only a collectible, but a real fighter as well. It is RAZOR sharp, and I could not find a single flaw in it. It is well built and the mirror polish is superb. The sheath is made of real leather and is built and designed well. The knife fits perfectly in the sheath and I have no problem sheathing and unsheathing it. Again it is RAZOR SHARP, and I would recommend it to anyone. 10/10. Ps: Budk has great customer service, the best prices, and shipping is great .

This is probably the best knife so far I have bought from BUDK! The knife is beautiful and solid build. This knife is great for collection or you can use it for protection. The knife is sharp out of the box. BUDK have the best price in town!

This is the Best Blade I have ever owned! I was expecting a good knife when I ordered this, and was Super Impressed when it arrived. Very Sturdy, Very Good Looking and Sharp as a razor! My wife looked at it and her finger prints were on the blade when she handed it back, Yes I did, I went to wipe her prints off on my sleeve and sliced thru everything, including the first couple of layers of my arm. I " Thought" I was careful with sharp knives, I just was not expecting this blade to be razor sharp. The Stainless Steel blade is mirror shine! Rock Solid from top to tip. I would give this knife a 6 Star rating if possible. The discounted price makes this a bargain. Everybody that sees this blade is impressed. I, of course, give stern warnings about how sharp the blade is. I had some etching done and that also looks great. Like I said earlier, 6 Star transaction!! RH

I really like this knife. Big, hefty, beautiful and sharp right out the box. Definitely an intimidating piece. And for $50 you can’t go wrong. This is my 2nd one. Kudos to Budk for fast processing/shipping.

One of my friends/weapon buddies saw these and bought two... as he often says, if one is good, two is mo better... anyway I noticed them hanging on his pack and asked about them... got to playing with it and, sucker that I am for bowies, toothpicks, daggers and assorted stickers and slashers, asked him if he was interested in selling me one of them... he considered it for a couple weeks and then let me have one for the money he had in it. This thing is truly a short sword but certainly in line with some of the early bowies. My buddy is anal about maintaining a sharp edge on every knife he owns, so it came to me super-sharp, and with a sharpened back-edge too. Dunno how well it will keep an edge but it certainly TAKES an edge! The blade is designed more as a sticker rather than a slasher but the sheer size and mass of this thing would deliver a mean cut... Like a katana, it isnt really meant for playin around with but I'd like to try it out on some hangin meat, like a pig or deer, just to see...

Such a nice knife! Long and heavy blade, which came shaving sharp right out of the box. I cut my finger down to the bone running my finger lightly down the edge, doubting it’s sharpness, so be careful. The brass spine looks quite nice. The leather sheath is well-made, but fits a little too tightly. I’m sure that this will resolve itself over time, though. My only complaint worth mentioning is that (even with my above average-sized hands) the grip feels like grabbing a 2x4. It is not the end of the world, since I can always sand it down to a more comfortable shape and re-finish it, but it is worth noting for anybody with small to medium hands. Overall, I am still extremely happy with my purchase, and it will adorn my hip for the foreseeable future.

This is another one of Gil's blades for my collection. Beautiful construction massive and so sharp it can cut paper like a safety blade. Nice sheath , too nice of a knife to take on a camping trip...but would hold up nicely as it's a beast. The handle perfectly carved and fits well even in my average hands. Great value and identical to the expendable version minus the logo.

I purchased this more out of curiosity than anything else, and I can say I'm quite happy with this knife. I cannot say how strong the tang is because I haven't attempted to see how it's fastened in the handle or how far in it goes, but as a cutting and stabbing tool this thing would be devastating. I'm usually more about function than fashion but this one wooed me. I have to admit that I like showing it off.

I just purchased this with the 30% off code. Wow! What a deal. I do not purchase Hibben knives for functionality due to the materials. Not that they are not capable, but the steels are not ideal. Leave that to the Ontario knives, condors, etc. The Hibben family produces beautiful knives. This one may be functional, but it is far too pretty for me to cut anything more than soft targets... like a steak. If you enjoy top notch craftsmanship and design this is a very nice piece to add to your collection.

This is my second review of the Gil Hibben Old West Toothpick! I received this knife a Monday morning and left for my cabin in the north woods of Michigan on Wednesday morning, taking the Toothpick with me! I thought I would play with it a little out in the woods. My wife laughed at me when I hung the HUGE knife on my belt. The Hibben was hanging just behind my S&W .357 on my right hip. I headed out to the back side of my place taking my 3 German Shepherds with me. Just as I could see the property line I saw something move in the underbrush. A full grown coyote came out on to the path in front of me. The dogs started for the snarling coyote. Then panic set in the coyote was foaming at the mouth. My dog lunged toward it, I screamed calling them back! My Shepherds are like family to me, the last thing I wanted was for them to tangle with a rabid animal! My hand went to my gun but I realized the dogs were too close, I might hit one of them. I yanked the big knife out of the sheath and went at the "yote" without thinking. My first slash missed, I turned my wrist and reversed the next slash. The second slash made contact just below the animals left ear, partially severing the neck. My dogs were so close by this time I couldn't get off another slash. A single downward thrust through the rib cage ended the situation. I ran the 1/4 mile back to the cabin to get the rabies tainted blood off my hands. As I was running back the thought went through my mind that without the Toothpick this could have and most likely would have ended with me or one of my furry buddies being bitten. The dogs wouldn't have tolerated the coyote biting me and would have jumped in the fray. Only 2 more preventative shots left to go! Damn they hurt!

I bought this knife thinking it would be just a wall hanger! Man-o-Man did I get a surprise. I took it out of the box, the first thought that went through my mind was how good it felt in my hand. I examined it very closely and, found out how well made it is. The edge was good but up to my standards so, I pulled out a steel hone thinking I had a long job ahead of me. All it took was 25 strokes and the big knife was sharp enough to shave the hair off your arm. I forge my own swords, battle axes and, fighting knifes. So my opinion does carry a bit more weight than a normal buyer! Since the knife was well made and now near razor sharp, I thought I would run it through the same tests as my own hand made knives and the high end fighters in my collection. I hung a 1 inch diameter blue spruce limb from a piece of 550 cord from a rafter in the garage. A single 45degree downward slash cut through the limb with no hesitation at all. Next I clamped a white pine 1 x 1 in a vise and chopped through it. The edge wasn't turned only dulled slightly, 10 stroke on the hone and, it's as good as new! Yep I'm going to hang it on the wall because it is truly a beautiful piece but, it's more than just a wall hanger! This a useable knife, a huge useable knife at a super price! Don't let the fact that this is a United Cutlery item fool you, it's a great piece.

This one is a beauty that lives up to the hype. mine did come with a bent tip when it arrived, other than that, it is perfect. I use my knives, they're not just wall hangers, and this one did great in the bush.highly recommend you get one.

Just received this knife. What more can be said than "Beautiful". Infarct, I just ordered a second one engraved for my collection. It will be a heirloom to hand down thru the family. Well made and solid, big knife. I would recommend this knife, it's very impressive. The sheath seems well made as well. This first knife will become a tool that I will use when hunting, camping etc. You can't go wrong with this one.

Have been using it for 5 months with no damage. This blade came out of the box razor sharp. I feel bad for anyone who is receiving this blade in one of their vital organs. It feels nice in the hand and I feel like a badass whenever I hold it. I wouldn't put this thing anywhere near my teeth tho because it's scary as hell.

As a dealer, I've seen many but this is a perfect 10 like Bo Derek was in the movie. This knife is super sharp out of the box. It is absolutely awesome beautiful and amazing with a perfect wonderful balanced feel. It is solid, heavy, and well made with a mirror polished look and finish. If you are on the opposite side, you are facing an intimidating menacing weapon that will surely cut you with its razor edge or leave you with a large stab wound that may prove fatal on account of its size. It is a survival tactical dagger, bowie knife and toothpick all in one and worth every penny. If this is a gift for someone special, you might as well order 2 because when it arrives, you are going to want to keep it for yourself. And if you are ordering 1 for yourself, order 2 because 1 is for you and the other is for the wall as a showcase. The leather sheath I got is the perfect size and made out of real leather. This is a keeper and yes I only ordered 1, but now I have ordered my 2nd one. Like I said, it is a PERFECT 10.

Bought this knife a few weeks ago, and it is one of my favorite Bowie's. This thing is a work of art, fine materials and craftsmanship. Thanks BudK, and I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone wanting a knife that makes a statement. Joe.

Out of all of the Hibben knives I have purchased this one is by far the best. Very fine tip. Amazing detail. I woukd recommend this to anyone who likes bowie knives. You won't be dissapointed with this purchase.

When I purchased this knife I thought I was just getting another Bowie knife because I collect them I have hundreds of Bowie's, but when I took it out of the box it is razor sharp and flawless I was so impressed with it that I bought another one to put on display with my other Bowie's so I can use this one and see how it holds up, and I got 2 of the little hibben boot knifes that looks just like the big one those two blades look great together on display now I am making those two knifes my daily work and play knifes, if they hold up as good as they look then it was well worth it, but they are truly well designed knifes I like how the tips are just slightly angled for easy Penetration and the balance is nice for swinging, so I will give a endurance write up in a couple months to let you know how both of them did.

A big knife that begs to used. While I'll purchase another Old West Toothpick to become trailer queen on the wall, this aw-s&$t knife is perfect for hacking around the garden, doing camp chores, and storing under the seat in my pick-up. As a fencer. it is NOT a light blade, but the knife balances nicely, even though the handle is bit too large and too smooth for me. A couple of hours of sanding will fix that issue. While far to slow as real knife fighter, this knife is perfect to scare the crap out of any un-sophisticated bad guys and lets you, " Get the Heck outta Dodge" while their jaws are still hitting the ground. The servicable sheath, will last at least a couple of years of moderate use. Excellent value.....and a real hoot to hold.

Solid, Sharp and super polished blade, is a great looking knife that would definitely serve the purpose it is intended for, yet looks so nice on display. Coupled this with the Gil Hibben Boot knife of similar build. Look great together.

Steven W.2 March 16. This knife is BAD to the bone. I liked it so much that I had to have another. Flawless and sharp out of the box. If you love Big knives, well the Hibbens Toothpick is the answer. BUDK thanks for a great product and at a rock solid price.

It's great for making kindling from tree branches or digging a hole for a fire. The ballence and the heavy weight feel so conferrable in my hand. I have sharpened the hollow ground blade by hand and now its razor sharp enough to shave but I never shave in that I'm a mountain man from Boulder Creek Ca. So pick the style that fits you and buy one, you will love it too!

I not only collect knives, but also make them. Of all of the knives I have bought over the years, this is one of the most beautiful. The design is unique, mixing old world and new, but certainly is Gil Hibben. The fit and finish is excellent, and the mirror polished blade is too pretty to be covered with a sheath, although the one included is of very high quality. All in all, one of the best investments you can buy at such a low price.

PERFECT KNIFE, Sharp Right Out Of The Box, The Point Stands Up To Its Name, Especially After I Stabbed Myself Accidentally And Tore A Chunk Of My Skin Off! The Sheath Was A Little Too Tight But After Constantly Unsheathing, The Sheath Kind Of Molds Itself To The Blade And Becomes Easier To Draw! Overall Perfect Knife For Any Blade Lover! A MUST HAVE ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE!!
