Gotta love the Hibben III fighter, its the iconic Rambo design scaled down to a more practical size. The Hibben III fighter is the best of the whole Gil Hibben catalog, I just wished they would make a damascus version. Gil Hibben is a absolute genus at what he does. I would recommend this to any one who wants a real heavy duty knife that is as functional as it is beautiful. Bud k is the best

Very nice knife
I bought this knife as a smaller alternative to the Hibben III, which I also own. I found the quality to be excellent The knife was sharp and looks durable and well constructed. The proportions on this knife actually make it look like it has a bigger (wider) blade than the Hibben III. The sheath was of good quality as well and had a nice broken in feel to it. Highly recommended.

Heavy Hibben
I own a half dozen different Hibben bowie knives. The designs are real eye catchers. This is the heaviest of the bunch. Nice quality sheath. Delivery was quick. Knife quality is great. The price was very good. I shop around before making my purchases and BUDK usually comes out on top of the knife world. Thanks.

The best
This knife was unexpectedly heavy which makes it great for combat or hunting. It came sharp right out of the box but I like my knifes sharp enough to shave so a little time on the whetstone and it keeps the edge.

Awsome Knife
I am very happy with this knife. A little extra time on the stone and she will shave ya.

Hibben III fighter
I have become a fan of Hibben custom knives. I first purchased the Recon for my son's first field hunting knife and was so impressed with it I decided to purchase a Hibben knife for myself. Well, I have now purchased two for me and the latest is the Hibben III fighter, it is the bowie style kife I have always wanted. I am impressed with the weight and balance built into this knife. It is the perfect all around field and camp knife in my opinion. Mine did come fully sharpened and the blade is leathal.

BEST IN COLD WEATHER
My youngest son lives in Anchorage, Alaska and needed a good hunting knife. I found this one on sale so I sent it to him. He LOVES the weight and balance of it. He also has to watch it very carefully as the others he hunts with have threatened to make it disappear, LOL, when he is not looking. I will be getting one for myself very soon.

Great knife for combat
I am a life-long martial artist who has taught literally thousands of classes in knife fighting and empty-hand defense against the knife. I reviewed this knife for what it is, which is a "fighting knife" and not a survival knife. As a fighting knife it gets high marks. The balance is excellent. The steel is hard enough for the purposes of a combat knife (stab, rip, slash and cut). The handguard is angled so that you can utilize a thumb forward combat grip and maintain proper wrist angle. The handguard is large to defend well against an opponent "defanging the snake" offense/defense. The grip is well-designed in that the swell fits perfectly between the middle and ring finger for stability during a forward or back slash. The pommel is designed to capture your hand so it doesn't slide off the non-textured handle during pommel strikes. The guard can also be used as punching 'knuckles' in that the forward and rearward guards protrude far enough ahead of the hand that they will inflict injury if used in punching an opponent. In addition to the blade edge, the hard profile edges of the knife are able to be used as offensive weapons. My only criticism of this knife is that the blade is not full tang for extra strength. Instead it uses an internally threaded bolt to attach to the modified rat-tail type tang. However, the external bolt actually adds a nice degree of solidness and would be my 2nd choice to a full tang blade. A rat-tail tang is ok for a fighting knife since it's not a survival knife and was not designed for the stresses of a survival situation. For a fighting knife it is an acceptable method of attaching the handle. I have also given this knife some serious woodland field use (not abuse) and it served well. Its a good outdoor knife as long as the use of common sense is applied. It's a cutting/slicing instrument, and NOT a machete, ax, throwing knife or a tree footstep. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone that is looking for this style of knife.

hibben fighter III
I wanted this because a good friend gave me its big brother the Rambo III 20th anniversary knife and I wanted a smaller version to carry. Mine came fast from Bud K and out of the box it was shaving sharp plus the fit and finish was really great on it. The sheath is also well made. I don't think you'll be disappointed by this bowie. Its big, but light and quick in the hand.

The shipping was faster than I had anticipated! The knife, WOW!, what a bad a**! I recently took it on an elk hunt with me and cleaned two entire elk with it and the blade is still sharp! The craftsmanship is excellent! it was much more than i had expected! Thanks budk!!

Hibben III
Being a woodworker, I was a little concerned about the laminated grip but in person, it is very nicely made. The knife is absolutely stunning in person and extremely well crafted. The machining on the steel is first rate. As somebody said, "almost too pretty to use." Well made sheath too, which is critical for an edge weapon this large. If you need a large stainless tactical Bowie for survival, this knife will not leave you wanting for anything. A steal at $50!

Fighter Bowie-
KNIFE-Amazing. One problem- It's too d*** good looking. I don't want to use it. NOT BECAUSE I think it will get damaged, it won't, but because it comes so shiny and nice looking that I'm worried it will get marks on the side of the blade where it looks it's best. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate materials.

A Beautiful Bowie
Man, what a knife! I'm a big fan of Hibben knives and ordered this one to use around the house. However, this blade is so beautiful, I just couldn't bring myself to risk putting a mark on it. Don't get me wrong, this is a working knife and it's quality is outstanding. The blade is good and sharp. The balance and feel of the knife is right on the money. Even the sheath is top notch. But I think I'll put mine into the collector's bin and enjoy drooling over it from time to time. Besides, it gives me a good enough reason to buy another bowie from BUDK.

i got this one originally for my son but i couldn't help to test it for him. lol my friend has a really nice pair of sushi knives and i got to say when cutting up a California roll they still aint got none on this i have cut meat frozen solid with this and shredded about everything else i touched and it is still very sharp to this day this is one of the few knives that does not have the "Hibben" logo on the wrong side (like other hibben product but that don't even bother me ) a very very nice knife especially for all hibben fans.

Very impressive Bowie!
When i first got this knife the first word i said was, "WOW!" i love the shiny finish on it and how sharp it is! i mean i love it so much i don't plan to use it unless cut open a package or something. But I'd love to keep this knife in mint condition on how great it looks. It is worth the 50 bucks. I would pay more for it! Now time to get the bigger version of this Bowie :D. Gil Hibben has done it again!

Greatest knife
Great knife comes razor sharp and perfectly shiny. I went into my backyard with the knife and cleanly cleaved a palm frond from the tree. I have yet to find something it doesn't cut through like butter!

Nice heft and balance
This is the fourth Hibben Knife I have purchased from Bud K. I have become addicted to the Hibben line of knives because of the attention to detail and the outright quality they put in their knives. I like the heft, the balance and the weight of this knife. It easily takes a razor sharpness and keep a good edge for a long time. This knife will serve me well for years to come. The only criticism I have is with the rat tail tang. This knife will definitely not be a good candidate for a survival situation, but is great for hunting and all around use.

practical field knife
I bought it as functional knife. It is large enough but not so huge that you don't want to carry it around on your side.. And it work life and durability built into it. Mine didn't come fully sharp some time with a hard stone fixed that.
Julio Feb 13, 2013 (4 out of 5)
great knife
the knife is great and good weight to it. did not come fully sharp but it is adequate and a simple knife sharpener will do the trick.
