Shovel
I Did a review on this shovel just over a year ago, nothing has changed really from what I said last, although, after awhile the head of the shovel becomes wobbly. Not enough to effect anything. But still, Most of the paint has come off around well used areas and its a little dinged up, but its done its job and has exceeded my expectations

Haven't destroyed it yet!
Yes, it's a little small, but I tend to pack light when I go camping and in the case this takes up about as much space as two packs of cigarettes. I figured I would get about two holes out of it before it broke in 4 pieces, and wouldn't be to heartbroken, considering the price. This thing has stood up to some abuse though. I must have dug 20 some odd holes with it, between single use latrine pits, 3'+ fire pits, setting posts for temporary shelters and then beat it against rocks to get the dirt off, moved hot coals into the cooking area of the fire, etc and it's still going strong. Yea, you're not going to want to do any major digging with it but it sure beats dulling my hatchet doing all the jobs this little shovel does now. I'm pretty happy with it.

Perfect for survival
Overall this shovel seems well made and convenient. I got a small Ziplock bag so I can store some magnesium and matches in the handle for fire starting, I'm probably going to buy a pen torch and see if it fits inside as well.

Survival Shovel
Very good shovel I got it as a gift and it is awesome! The ice pick (first thought to just be a marketing tool) is also very good. Took me 5 minutes to take out a block of ice.

Folding Entrenching Survival Shovel
Just received the Survival Shovel, this thing is pretty nice & well worth the price. This is perfect for carrying with you on camping trips or gardening. It has a nice little pouch it fits in that can hook onto your belt and folds up pretty small. If you guys are looking for a huge shovel to use on a daily basis don't get this. This is for Survival/Camping mostly so this is built to be small and compact and easy to travel with. A+++

Gardening???
I'd say this shovel is an epic looking thing used for taking down terrorists in Afghanistan!!

Folding Survival Shovel
A decent little shovel for the price and the cloth pouch seems like it will hold up for quite a while. It's smaller than I expected, but perfect for the clandestine herb gardener since it can be carried on the belt leaving both hands free to carry potted plants or other garden essentials. I wouldn't try digging a large fox-hole with it because it would take all day, each shovel full is only a couple cups worth of soil or whatever... but it's perfect for casual camping or gardening and the hoe and pick options are quite useful as well.

Smaller than I expected but very sturdy.

Great tool
Works well and that's held up to some abuse.

Makes quick work of digging through tough dirt and with chop away thin vegetation. But when i tried to cut though a moderately sized root in the ground i noticed the hinge stared to loosen, not very loose though.. Still a great shovel.

great quality, but smaller than expected
The shipping on this item was surprisingly fast, received it within 48 hours of order. The quality is excelent, you can tell by the weight and feel that they used high quality steel. The 16" overall size is from the tip of the shovel head to the end of the handle when fully assembled, but this is more of a trowel than an entrenching shovel. The "shovel" head is 5" long and 3 3/4" wide, Pick is 4 1/4" long and 1" wide. Overall i would suggest this for camping because of it's small pack-up size, but don't try to dig any big holes with it.

nice SMALL tool
good quality, solid tool, perfect for the S.H.T.F. kit, quite small, compact enough for the lightest of bug out bags, good value for money

Survival Shovel
I have bought this exact shovel from Amazon.com and its decent. Smaller then I have expected though. Its very compact and great for digging. The saw is also great. It is sharp and will get the job done. This shovel functions as a saw, hoe, dibble, pick, spear, hammer, and obviously a shovel. Great buy!

Survival Shovel review
Yep Small, Sturdy, Lite, Just what I wanted. It's a survival shovel your going to be digging for water, post holes for a shelter, shallow trenches, clearing a small camp site.. If you need bigger holes or deeper wells buy a bigger shovel. If it's the only tool in your hand at the time it's the best tool you have. But it does need a better case. I like it, fits great in my bag. Great tool for the money.

Shovel
Yes, this shovel is small, but it digs very well and have tested it many times... I'm not too sure the case will hold up though. But overall I'm happy :)

This shovel is good but small

Good for emergencies
I like to keep things in my trunk so I'm ready for everything. This means I need things that are small and compact. Its the size of a gardening shovel, but seems to be sturdier and more versatile. It is welcome in my emergency kit any time.

Survival Shovel
It's small but more than capable of doing whatever you need it to do. Small size lets me carry it in my BOB and it is very sturdy. Going to grind an edge on mine for better chopping. Overall well worth it. Again don't let it's size mislead you it's AWESOME!!!!
Chris Graven Mar 28, 2011 (4 out of 5)
good but small
its defiantly a good and sturdy shovel but i was not expecting it to be as small as it is. itll work for gardening and camping and maybe for car emergencies for digging yourself out of a trap. i say its perfect to the description but a note to how big it is would have been nice.
Matthew Studwell Mar 04, 2010 (4 out of 5)
small but considering it is a multiple piece design is actually relatively sturdy. I will say i think that the serration should be sharpened and it's not along with the blade of the shovel.

Survival shovel
Just got the shovel..its okay but still pretty small...good for gardening and or digging a small hole...but if you want something to really help dig a good size hole this is not it...I'm going to be giving it to my cousin to play in the sandbox or something....
peter mcguinness Feb 18, 2011 (3 out of 5)
size matters
the size of a small garden shovel. (notice no size in descrpt. a bit misleading) the standard version of this camping style shovel has a head 2x wider. Otherwise a handy little shovel.
victor garcia Feb 02, 2009 (3 out of 5)
i was expecting it to be double the size, good for digging small holes the pick is ok the saw is not sharp on the positive very light to carry looks bigger in the picture ok for the price

Not Much
When I got the shovel in my shipment I noticed how small it was. I did not expect it to be that small. I purchased this an emergency shovel and a week later I got stuck in the Colorado Mountains and found this shovel to not be worth the purchase. I am going out this weekend and buy a survival shovel that will help not hinder in an emergency. Bad Purchase but good learning experience.

Small Shovel
Shovel is made of high quality steel. Keep in mind this shovel is small more designed for gardening or digging small holes. Not exactly expected when purchasing an "Entrenching Survival Shovel."

Small & Useless
Too small to be useful for anything but lite gardening
