Product Description
You will be absolutely combat ready with the Combat Commander Thai Gladius Sword in your hands. The 20" sharp blade is of 1065 carbon steel and has a black hard coating finish. The handle is of nylon fiber and is as tough as they get! A nylon sheath with a shoulder harness lets you carry it with ease. It is 40" inches overall.
The design of this sword intrigued me so I broke down and bought one. It was money well spent. A well thought out design. When choked up by the blade it has perfect balance, making it quick and nimble one handed. Two handed grip on the lower half of handle provides a devastating cut. Use it for zombie decapitation as well as brush hogging.

Beastly Blade
When I ordered this item, I did so seeing it as another piece for my collection! But I still. Put it through the same tests that I put my blades that I forge myself. First was cutting through a 4 foot length of 3/4 inch hemp rope. Next came the 1 inch piece of dry Spruce limb. One swing dropped the rope to the ground! The Spruce limb was debarked and clamped in a bench vise. It took two two handed swings to cut through. The blade remained sharp, straight and tight. It was also really great for cutting raspberry canes without getting thorns in your hands!

Impressive
This blade feels good in the hand or hands if you're chopping with it. It swings easily and is maneuverable. I would order again.

Formitable
I like the handle design and materials. Not sharp. Wide continuous bend in blade with tip about 3/4” from where it should be. Manufacturer made no attempt to straiten the blade. Light and nicely balanced. Reminds me of the Zulu extended sword of choice; a formidable blade weapon for both 1 or 2 hand hold tactics.

Well made sword.
I bought 1 for cutting fun junk and 1 to keep for emergencies. I cut into a 4" across fallen dry oak branch. After my 17 teen year old and I chopping the hell out of this tree branch , no damage or to the blade the black coating was unharmed the blade was still sharp and the handle is solid as a rock .If you want a blade thats low priced and can cut the hell out of stuff and live thru it this is a great choice.

Such a lovely thing
This isn't a long dagger, it isn't a short sword, it isn't a spear, it isn't a polearm, but it has just a little of each of those things in the mix, and the result is something I fell in love with the moment it came out of the box.
It just feels NICE.
The balance point is at the top of the handle, just below the blade, and the shape of the handle draws your hand to it very naturally.
The blade is thin but well-made, the edge is sharp enough (though I'll sharpen it when I get a chance), and the point design is very well suited to the sort of thrusts you'd do with a short spear.
(Trying it out on 4-ply thick cardboard boxes had me delighted with how easily it pushed through, cleanly and with nearly zero effort needed).
The way this balances in the hands makes it feel nimble and responsive, and almost weightless--this would be Perfect for a smaller woman (or anyone who isn't a musclebound Barbarian) to use for fun or, I suppose, home defense, as it's light and quick but still capable of dealing some brutal damage, both at close quarters and at medium range too.
I really am completely happy with this thing (can you tell?), and I can't wait to go hack up some plastic bottles in the backyard with it as soon as the weather allows it.

LOVE IT.
Got this for Christmas today from my dad. Extremely good quality blade and handle. The sheath is comfortable and easy to adjust and wear. I totally recommend this to anyone wanting a beastly combat sword.

United has really stepped it up!
First off, the sheath isn't the best but for $50, who cares! The blade has proven to be much tougher than it expected it to be. It's not a very thick blade, and it will wobble if you shake it hard enough. Don't let that fool you. I've recently found out that 1060 iis favored among sword makers for its flexibility and hardness. It has a perfect balance. I was able to hack two fat logs in half with no damage too the blade. It didn't even dull it. It has a perfect balance for throwing like a spear. I've done that once and the blade went about 3 inches into a tree. I was afraid it would break the tip, but it is still needle sharp. I kinda abused it thinking that it was too flimsy...I don't think that anymore. In fact, if the same product was made with a harder steel, I doubt it would of held up to how I was testing it. As long as you hit hard targets at a clean angle, it will stay sharp. It's sharp out of the box. I didn't think it was that sharp at first, than I sliced my finger while trying to adjust the shoulder strap. Be careful when doing that because the plastic toggle came undone and the blade unsnapped and fell to the ground barely touching my finger. I had to get stitches. The cut was deep but so clean that I didn't feel the pain right away. It really doesn't need to be any sharper than it is out of the box. The balance, weight, and leaf shaped blade will all work together to chop or slice through more than you think. That's another thing, the weight. It is so light and balanced you can easily use it one handed. I don't recommend doing that until you've gotten used too the blade. The cut in my finger has made me respect this blade and use with caution. It's always my favorite blades that I end up cutting myself on. I've never had to get stitches because of it though. I want to give a shout out to United. It's like they have read my mind with the designs of their 2016 line of products. I can't wait for the Honshu war sword to come out. This Thai gladius is a really fun design.,I think it is the imagination of their latest products that have really moved them up in front of my other favorite blade manufacturers. Not to mention the price. My last three purchases from Budk have been United Cutlery products, and they have all exceeded my expectations. I'm now thinking about buying a higher quality sword from them as a result. I'm guilty of thinking of United as a poor boys Cold Steel. Now I'm seeing much better performance and originality than Cold Steel or any other competitor. Sometimes a low price can turn people away. Don't be stupid like me. Give United a chance before wasting your money on some over priced pease of hype.

Great bang for your buck
The blade came right away and I was impressed at how cool this thing looks. The build appears to be well done. I've only done light cutting so far and it does the job very well. It's well balance and the blade will surprise you. I give it four stars because while it was fairly sharp out-of-the-box it wasn't sharp enough for me. At this price it was no problem to send it to my sword polisher and this sword is now very lethal. "It will Keeal!" lol. I cut through an unripe avocado and it went through the seed like it was butter. I never felt any drag. Nice deal for the money.
