Product Description
The Manriki, a hand held chain weapon used in feudal Japan, can be thrown by swinging overhead or popping like a whip. It is made of coated stainless steel links with heavy, balanced weights on either end. This is a very effective concealable self-defense weapon.
this thing is awesome very nicely made ends are very heavy overall very cool

great beginner weapon
This manriki has a nice weight for accurate deployment - not to heavy making it very accurate. My grandson enjoys using it on a dummy I have set up ( he wears a full head helmet while using it - safety first ). Well worth every penny spent. Extremely well made, and very durable.

nothing wrong with this at all. simple, harsh, and elegant. takes a lot of practice to use, and just as dangerous, if not more so to yourself than your target if you're not careful. annoying "made in thailand" sticker on one of the weights.

Awesome chain. Made from strong steel... I was swinging it around in a figure 8 pattern and I accidently smacked it into a big rock... It cracked the rock in half!

This is my new favorite toy. It's really easy to disguise as a necklace, and it can be changed back in less than a second. Great for choking, blocking, swinging...And wonderfully easy to use. Highly durable...

love it but it needs to be about 1.5 ft longer

Rawr, I purchased this a while back, it takes time to get used to and the weights do hurt like all hell, can do some serious damage and its pretty fun to use :)

This thing just looks painful, and I don't mean the quality. Let this thing fly and you won't wonder why you bought it anymore. You'll be too busy trying to find stuff (or people) to throw it at.

Not very practical
Well my order was delayed twice, not a big deal. Anyways, this is a cool weapon if you absolutely know how to use it. Most of us do not have this specific training. To a novice this is more of a danger to themselves. I can see hopeful advantages to this weapon and can see practical use in it's Medieval Japanese application of it. However the chain is too long I believe to be effective for repeated strikes, along with the risk of your weapon falling into enemy hands and it being used against you. The control is limited and the chain tangles in your pockets much like a pair of headphones. The weights can be used for creative types like myself. I plan on folding this in half and wrapping the chain in paracord making it shorter and easier to get repeated strikes in. I still enjoy the fantasy factor but in a real fight Id rather use my hands than rely on this thing which could get me killed. As a restraining tool, such as possibly using them to subdue an attacker, the chain links are designed to be smooth so tying someone up like a pair if handcuffs like traditional Japanese castle defenders would do would not work unless you are manually on top of the person which could lead to legal charges for sure. This should not be taken seriously as a self defense tool, it poses more of a risk than an advantage. But the weights can be repurposed like I said, in more practical DIY weapons projects.
