Avalanche 150-lb. Wood Crossbow

Easy to assemble but adding on string takes two to put on and gives both of you a workout. I shot it a couple of times at a target at close range and it's powerful. I would like to know what kind of maintenance to perform on this instrument to keep it working in future use? The couple times I fired it, I'm happy with it but it needs instructions to show how to keep it firing well.

Was delivered fast some assembly was needed easy instruction I would say to get or have them get you a cocking string to install the string I was able to with help but I have done this before. Ask if the sale install string for it when you order.

It's a GR8 Crossbow at a GR8 price BUT it's virtually impossible for 2 people much less one person to STRING it. I'm a former Special Forces/Green Beret, Martial Arts expert and Body Builder and my friend is a former Marine and TOGETHER we could NOT get it strung.

I just got back from my first attempt to sight in this crossbow. The material the feathers of the arrows I got got messed up somehow and I think that may be causing my errors in my accuracy, I only used one arrow the whole time I was shooting this crossbow and I only hit the target twice after some confounding sight adjustments that got the arrow in towards the center of the target once or twice but I couldn't leave well enough alone. It is my first experience with a crossbow and I did learn how it cocked fairly easily and after a few tried was confident enough to know what it sounds like when it cocks. Twenty yards and the arrow from this crossbow will hit the target in under 1/3 second. How my arrow feathers got wrinkled I don't know. I don't think that the material the feathers on the arrows is made of has a memory because all the wrinkles were still there when I stopped shooting. The trigger is easy to pull and doesn't break away to fire, but gently squeezing the trigger and it will smoothly come back and release the arrow. I got to where I was pulling the trigger instead of squeezing it but my accuracy was so bad anyway because I was having so much trouble sighting in, and I was running out of time, pulling the trigger was more fun just to see where the arrow would go with all the extra movement in the crossbow, because you really don't have that much time to shoot your target when your're hunting. So far my Avalanche Wood Crossbow is still working and I must have shot it at the archery range today eight times. Not a lot but it still sounded sound when I had to quit shooting. Keep an ear on the sounds it makes and if any of them start to change you may know you are starting to have a problem. Seems like a pretty good crossbow to me so far.

Got the crossbow within 3 days. Putting it together was a breeze and took about ten minutes. Stringing the bow was a little tough but once on its ready to go. Very strong and very sturdy. Great buy.

Love this monster! It shot thru a 3/4 inch plywood backboard. I have to go to a shooting range and shoot at proper targets.

Worth every penny it cost, it was easy to put together and it shipped very fast.

Looks and feels like solid work. Two person assembly was easy. Firing was accurate and powerful, the arrow went through my fence and then 3 inches into a pine tree. Good home protection that avoids stigma of firearms and safe around young kids; my 6 year old can load bullets but can't cock the crossbow.

This bow surprised me when it came in the mail, I later found that it destroys arrows rapidly if you hit fences. For under 100 dollars u cant find a much better and more powerful bow. I havnt killed anything but pumpkins with it but im sure most turkeys wouldnt stand a chance. Its a very sturdy frame after being sceptical about its draw weight being able to bend the framing or misfire the bolts because the locking mechanism was too weak but its proved itself. Needs to be sighted in so prepare for bolts to go much farther than intended. Loading took time to figure out, if you read this far u got to the best part. Draw the string back while the safty is off, when the second "click" happens the safty is AUTOMATICALLY engaged. Sick bow. Cheap fun. But not a toy.

i love it im planing to hunt soon and im using this bow it was a hastle to set up but way worth it im ganna bag some deer with it for sure.

I purchased this bow over a year ago and I am beyond satisfied. The construction is superb and the power is deadly. I took the open sights off and mounted a scope from an old pellet gun. Purchase your own bolts from a Scheels or other outdoors store and you can add your own broadheads. Recommended to anyone who needs a serious crossbow for a low price.

During the 3 hours it took to try to string it, with the help of my two sons, the string snapped. I had to order a replacement string as well as a crossbow stringer, and it still was pretty difficult and took about about 40 mins to string. Whatever this is that comes on it for a scope didn't cut it for me, so I ordered a scope. Scope came, then I realize I had to order scope mounts for it to attach onto the crossbow rail. Ordered some of those and they came - they were too big. Here's a tip... If you want to order a scope for this crossbow, make sure that the bottom part of the mounts that attaches to the rails are 3/8" or 11 mm (which are the same sizes). Anything else will not fit. I've learned a lot since I've gotten this crossbow... The biggest lesson is that stringing this crossbow a complete nightmare... even with a crossbow stringer. Other than all of that, I am pretty sure that it does what it is suppose to do. I haven't fired it yet, but it's a no brainer that it will shoot and it does look good and feel nice in my hands.

Great bow for the money. Cocking is a little tough with out a stock but once I figured it out a lot of fun to shoot.

An excellent low to moderate strength crossbow. (The rifle stock unit was unavailable at the time of purchase) assembled in less than 5 mins. Stringing not difficult. Pistol grip is terrible, so I fabricated a butt stock and added a rubber bumper. Work of art now. accurate@ 25yds.. too much snow to set up more distant measured targets. Also waiting on scope. Anything smaller than a great dane will drop with this. No, its not a toy, but its not a hunting machine either.

This crossbow is seriously heavy duty! The instructions say to have a friend help you string it, and you better have some seriously strong friends. If you have a possum problem, this is overkill. If you have a boar problem, its probably about the right speed. This thing is solid.

I like the cross bow a lot the only thing I was disappointed with was the fact they show it with a scope and it does not come with one.

this bow is built solid and is nice. but after about 10 shots or so and now it wont hold the string In the back were its supposed to. it just lets it go without pulling the trigger.
