Great spear

I was in the Middle East during the 1980s, and spears similar to this facsimile were common in rural areas bordering the Nile River. Dervishes around Kartoum during its siege under the Command of the British General Gordon in the 19th Century has spears similar to this one and others. Also, there were spears in the lower Nile often mistaken for the Iklwa spear common to the Zulus. I am no expert but only relied on information provided by Native Egyptians. Nevertheless, this African Spear is an excellent facsimile to the kind of weapons used in the past - and very dangerous. When my spear arrived, it was in excellent condition, and everything fit together. Spears were thrown in battle because a dervish carried a short sword and a smaller spear. The spear which I received was solid. The head of the spear was straigt and so was the shaft when fastened together. I have other genuine items from the Nile River area, when I was deployed there during the early 1980s. I caution people that this spear is a BUDK facsimile, but it is a good example of some similar spears I saw in the desert areas of the Nile River and in the Museum of Antiquities in Cairo.

I did have to glue the spear for a stronger hold also. Looks great on the wall but not for swinging around. But overall I'm glad I bought it.

I am a regular BudK customer and this spear is not the best but it is good for the price. Right when I screwed it together, the top half or the spear came off. I had to glue it, and the spear is not exactly straight but I am not a pikeman for House Stark. The spear is for the zombie apocalypse, so if gets through twenty zombies, then it was worth the price. Reminder, spears although are thrown in movies, were rarely thrown in battle, so throwing the spear is silly. Imagine being in a fight and throwing your gun at someone. They may be hurt, but now you have no weapon. Spears were the most used weapon throughout antiquity, they are for killing from a distance further than a sword. Anyway, still a decent purchase. If you got the dough, get it. If it is not perfect upon arrival, put a little work into it and make it your own...

I bought this spear about a month ago from budk. And I was very let down by this product, I have bought other products from BUDK before and they were great for the price and the quality. But this was not well made at all, the head of the spear was barely glued on to the part of the wood that t was supposed to be attached to. And the metal parts connecting the spear also fell off along with the spear head. Along with this it is not sturdy and is very wobbly when trying to throw. It is just not a good spear to use.

Come out of the box in pieces the glue that held the parts of the spear together all came off. The spear head just fell off as soon as i pulled it out of the box. It didn't cost much and now i know why this spear is horrible!

This spear was not like I expected it would be. It was flimsy and the wood shaft was very light and felt like it was going to snap. The two ends that screw together did not hold tightly and then were very loose and came off. I had to fix the spear myself to be able to just hang it up on my wall. I have bought some other products from BUDK and they were good. The spear was a rare miss but a miss none the less.
